It will depend on bandwidth from source to target system. I know in past Oracle Consulting has done test runs to see how man threads they can run in parallel and then base don test runs they can extrapolate the time it will take

    Hi Mark,

Any idea on how long it will take to migrate 2M files? We will plan our migration activities accordingly.

Per day how many files / size we can push to CEM?

    Thanks,

    Mohan

Oracle Consulting has used the REST APIs for some other customers where they migrated close to 2M files of similar sizes

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your response.

As I mentioned before, we have around 5M documents and file size is range between .2 MB to 5 MB. Average size might be 2 MB. Is CEM Rest API capable to do this?

    What is the best approach?

    Thanks,

    Mohan

Sorry, there is no Docuware specific migration tool, our REST APIs could be used to build utility to ingest the content and metadata as needed.

If this is for internal oracle usage please post to IT's help slack channel

Sorry, there is currently no way to override the default contributor role.

Makes total sense Marc, thanks for your response here. Sorry for the topic diversion ... the remainder of my post, which was truncated above, was actually on-topic and I've forwarded along a copy of what I had shared to your email for future consideration.

    All the best,
    Eric

This is a slightly different question, but one that is already partially supported today. When we render a PDF file, it is done in one of two ways: as an image rendering using ghostscript or as a rendering using HTML5. When the rendering is an image, copying text isn't possible. When the rendering is done using HTML5, you can select and copy text.

Unfortunately, we are not able to render all PDF files using HTML5 today. Where we can, we do make that conversion. But where we cannot, we continue to use the image rendering. We are working on expanding our support so that we can eventually render all PDF files correctly but that will take a very long time, given the number of exceptions and formats that need to be handled.

    Hope that helps,

    --Marc

Hi @Marc, any traction gained on priority for these features?

I too have run into the need to download 25+ PDFs from a recent internal conference as a workaround in order to be able to copy/paste content from the document itself (i.e. PDF preview within documents web-app doesn't properly render PDF text to allow for proper copy/paste results ... another problem, for another day, see attached annotated screenshot

Framework folders? this question concerns content and experience cloud not webcenter content.

Who owns the folders you tired to move? When you move a folder you can't change its ownership, it should have refused the whole move in that case however. If folder you tried to move is owned by someone else ask them to check your their trash.

Did you do this from web UI or desktop?

If this for internal oracle instance, please submit question to internal slack channel

Folders moved, but content is not empty.

Content is empty - is that what you actually implied ? If yes , then possibly the contents have lost association with the folders and are now without any association.

Please check the database table for framework folder and see if the history tables has entry for these items / folders.

The initial enhancements have been in the assets area of the product. I will take note of your request for metadata on documents for future enhancements

(Updated) The Elastic search rollout if only for OCE instances on "Built with OCI" and the upcoming "OCI Native" instances

  • Arijit Basu

Thanks for the response. As of now we do not see any enhancement from the search feature perspective. Do we have any upcoming feature list? We are specifically looking for metadata specific search with various comparison operators like equals, lt, gt, between.

    Thanks

    Arijit

The change has happenend. As the change is behind the scene and will be transparent to the end user - we have not noted this in release notes.
