Hello OFSC community. A few have asked me about using the data migration and management tool I built for OFSC. Apologies if I didn't respond, I have just been very busy. I'd like to open source the project, that way we have the best chance of keeping up with the rapid pace of development, and it starts to build a free and healthy open source culture in the community.
I have some other projects I'd like to open source, including a collaboration event triggering system for the new 19B patch, which I'm very excited about.
I'm keen to learn if there are others in the community who invest any of their time in an open source group. It would also be good to connect with users, both those who have some spare time to help test, document, and who would like a voice in driving an open source roadmap supplementing OFSC's fantastic capabilities.
I put a lot of thought into making the data loader as dynamic as possible, which means that it has features like synchronisation with the metadata API, so the moment you add a new field in OFSC, it is available in the tool. I'm working on tools to batch load testing/dummy data for easy routing trials!
I have a couple of points to iron out on deployment and security with the help of the OFSC team, so if anyone would like to get early access then please get in touch.
We have a message scenario configured to Inventory is Deinstalled launch condition, where we need to pass some inventory custom properties like I_SUBINVENTORY_CODE,I_SUBINVENTORY to external application. When we push resource inventory to OFSC from external system we pass values to above custom properties only.
Within message scenario body when we use these properties system does not return any value but when we use A_SUBINVENTORY_CODE,A_SUBINVENTORY properties the values in I_SUBINVENTORY_CODE,I_SUBINVENTORY are returned. Unable to understand this behavior, did anybody face the same issue? or could anybody plz help me understand how is this possible?
Hi,
I created inventory types without specifying the model property to use, since in our context/business the model is not necessary. I checked that is possible to create inventory to add to the technician and customer/activity without having to define a model. However, it seems to be mandatory to send this field when creating required inventory via API in an activity, which is not the wish.
Is there any way to create required inventory without using a model property, just inventory type and quantity?
Thanks,
Diana Cunha
Hello,
I am trying to return a list of the inventory in the customer pool. I haven't been able to return any information in the messages using the following
Subject:
TestBlock
Pattern:
The inventory that remains on WO# {activity_number} is:
<BLOCK type="customer_inventory" >
{inventory_serial_number}
</BLOCK>
The block type is showing up blank (see attached screenshot: test_block.png)
Is there something wrong with the syntax I am using?
Hi OFSC Guru's,
I need documentation or step by step guidance on how to clone an instance. Help would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hey,
First question:
We have a situation that we don't want technicians to complete activities without adding any inventory items. So basically if ActualAmount = 0, hide "end activity" button.
Is there a way to do this without adding extra properties?
Currently we've done this so that when ending activity, it just shows a checkbox which asks technician "have they added all the needed items", but as you know this isn't enough because it doesn't actually check that.
I noticed that there was similar issue about showing inventory.properties in activity end screen and it was already posted to Idea Lab, which was great!
Second question:
Can I populate a field according to what inventory item is added to activity? (Currently I just want to think about ONE added item + one field populate according to that).
For example, if technician adds item "X" to activity, then populate field Y with "00000-22222-33333".
Thanks guys and have a nice weekend!

In End activity form, we need to configure a default validation based on an Inventory property. For example in the End activity form a text line will display "Price not added" if a specific inventory.property is empty.
The problem is inventory properties are not available in the End activity form. And in my case I cannot use a message step to pass the inventory property value to an activity property because there is no event triggered when the user adds a price in the inventory field.
Hello all,
Is there any available Inventory Message Placeholder for individual quantity ? (except inventory_quantity)
I see that when multiple installation are executed on the same activity, quantity is being calculated each time.
Thanks in advance.
