    Extend Resource EntityAnswered8

    Extend Resource Entity

We have a requirement where prospect would like to hold some additional data related to resource. They are very happy with the overall field service solution but would like to extend a small part for Resource entity so that everything is in 1 application

It isn't a single data but multiple records e.g. # of trainings taken by Resource

    • Can we extend Resource entity to allow holding data of 1:M kind as above?
    • If so, will this data remain in system permanently?I believe transaction data gets removed after 90days

Time-based routing for field service: Using a time-based approach to yield greater efficiencies

This updated white paper includes a comparison of three routing methodologies for mobile workforces, demonstrating that time-based routing yields more accurate travel times than linear-distance or street-level routing.

Time-based routing results in schedules that are more stable throughout the day and more thoroughly optimized across the entire enterprise.

Follow up responses to questions raised on the Customer Roadmap Webinar (Jeff Wartgow) earlier this...

Is there any plans for configuration deployment tools. I.e. export from 1 system and import into another?

Oracle Field Service Cloud is committed to making our software as easy to configure as possible.  In the next two releases, we are have completely revamped many of our configuration screens and are rolling out configuration logs.  In regards to configuration development tools, (export from 1 system and import to another), we have no immediate features on the roadmap, but we would love to hear from you would you think would make the most impact.

The 2 way authentication that exists for Outbound API, is this being added to other APIs? I.e. Capacity, Inbound etc?

There were no changes to authentication in the capacity API or the Inbound API. If this is something that is critical we recommend submitting the request to the Ideas Lab and we will review it.

Right Now knowledge base - if we have exisiting propietary knowldge bases do these need to be migrated to RN Knowledge base of can RN KB integrate with existing databses?

Speaking for Field Service, I believe a customer could do an integration with a proprietary knowledge database using our standard API layer.  However, in regards to migrating an existing proprietary knowledge base into the RN Advanced knowledge, content would need to be migrated.  However with federation, they could crawl external HTTP content.

Right Now and Oracle Field Services integration - as this is relatviely new are there reference customers who have been able to tightly integrate these two systems and are their expereinces able to be shared?

To start, Oracle Field Service cloud has a successful track record of integration with hundreds of backend systems, so regardless of what you want to integrate into the application, you should have a good experience.  Speaking to RightNow in particular, the uptake on the integrated solution has been quite impressive since we launched it in May and there are currently at least four deployments in progress.

Using Outbound Configuration for Flawless Integration

Leveraging Oracle Field Service Cloud’s Outbound Configuration Tools When Responding to Changing Integration Requirements

Oracle Field Service Cloud (OFSC) drives a mission critical component of operations – without it, product and service delivery would grind to a halt, resulting in inefficiencies and customer dissatisfaction. Field services are central to service operations, so OFSC often works at the center of numerous operational and business support systems.

It must receive critical information from HR/HCM, CRM and ERP solutions in order to optimize field operations. It must also communicate important data back to the applications that keep your business running smoothly. For example, OFSC may trigger a notification to the CRM that a customer signature has been captured – so the incident can be resolved.

In some cases, the customer support process cannot move forward (e.g. ordering a replacement part, completing and distributing an invoice, initiating a customer survey) until a message is received from OFSC providing proper notification. If outbound messages aren’t getting through, it’s not just an IT headache – it’s a business problem.

Outbound message configuration is part of the initial OFSC implementation. However, you may need to configure outbound message scenarios for a new system. Or, you may need to update the configuration of outbound messages to existing systems. For example, major SaaS application, ISP, server, hardware or operating system upgrades can create port or URL changes, leaving your business stakeholders wondering why their CRM or billing system has suddenly stopped receiving critical updates from OFSC.

With improved outbound configuration tools embedded in OFSC, you’ll now be able to quickly and efficiently configure new scenarios and update existing scenarios in response to your changing environment. You’ll also be able to troubleshoot and test – all without a trouble ticket or call to the help desk. Here’s how:

    1. From the OFSC Core Manage console, select “Outbound Configuration” from the “Company Settings” drop down menu.
    2. Select “Add New”
    3. Complete the form, adding the new URL or port information in the appropriate field
    4. Choose “OK”
    5. To troubleshoot, open existing configured scenarios and check entries in the URL and/or port fields against your latest information.

With new outbound messaging configuration screens in OFSC, the process for setting a new message has never been simpler.

open a google maps window from a action link plugin with parameters in url

    Hi all.

I'm trying to open a google maps window  on the mobility interface.

I created an ActionLink  type plugin , I put the url of google maps in the  "Relative path/URL"  input.  it works , the application opens a new page , but I dont know, how to introduce the parameters coord_x and coord_y to the url, to open the map in  the correct coordinates.

    Best Regads.
