#FinTech taking off with Oracle PaaS4SaaS
    Abstract:

New posts cover an event with Profource that focused on building an ERP Cloud solution using the UX Cloud RDK

    Announcement:

Financial technology innovation and the future of banking are hot topics. Wondering how the importance of financial applications and the Cloud fits into the OAUX PaaS4SaaS enablement offered to Oracle Partners? One example from EMEA: a Profource event summed up by Ultan O’Broin in this new post on the UsableApps blog. The event focused on building a Banking Cloud (ERP) solution using the UX Cloud RDK. This a great story about a FinTech solution, Ultan says, and it's our first hands-on event using the Release 10 Cloud UX RDK.

Pam Koertshuis, a Profouce consultant, also wrote about building the Banking Cloud solution with OAUX in this post.

A few notable events from 2015
    Abstract:

We wrapped up OpenWorld and moved on to UKOUG so fast, we didn’t have time for a recap till now!

    Announcement:

Now that the OAUX team has had a chance to breathe in 2016, we’d love to tell you about the cool stuff we did at the end of last year.

UKOUG CONFERENCE REVIEW: Interested in what the OAUX team did at UKOUG’s 2015 Applications Conference and Exhibition 2015 in the United Kingdom in December? Read about the community quest, sessions, and more on Storify or VoX.

STILL THINKING ABOUT OPENWORLD: Profit Online takes a look at the OAUX Exchange, a special event held at Oracle OpenWorld every year, in this new article. In case you missed it, look for a cameo from OAUX Group Vice President Jeremy Ashley in this OpenWorld 2015 video from Oracle executives on cloud applications development.  And Lucas Jellema, a friend of the OAUX team from Amis, announced a whitepaper covering Oracle OpenWorld 2015 that shows how the philosophies of the OAUX team came through in demos shown at the conference. A Glance at Smartwatches in the Enterprise: A Moment in Time...5.0
Announcement posted May 4, 2015 by Sarah SmartSilver Medal: 2,000+ Points, tagged Engagement Cloud, Financials, Global HR, OAUX, PPM, Procurement, SCM, UX
    Title:
A Glance at Smartwatches in the Enterprise: A Moment in Time Experience
    Abstract:

Check out some of our ideas about designing apps for *that* smartwatch -- and every other smartwatch, too!

    Announcement:

The wearable technology space is currently focused on smartwatches. Maybe you’re planning to get an Apple Watch, or maybe you already have one. Perhaps you’re interested in another kind of smartwatch or other wearable device and want to know Oracle’s position on wearables and the user experience.

Applying the Oracle Applications Cloud design philosophy to the smartwatch calls for an ideal realization of the first step of “Glance, Scan, Commit.” The UX needs to be simple, flexible, intuitive, and most of all, convenient. Smartwatch wearers need to keep that “right here, right now” feeling, having exactly what they need right when they need it.

We’re excited by Apple’s announcement about their smartwatch, and we’re even more excited to show you what Oracle is doing about it. Click here to learn what we’ve already done and how that’s influencing the Oracle user experience.

    AT&T Developers Hackathon
    Abstract:

An update from the AppsLab team about their trip to Las Vegas

    Announcement:
Members of the AppsLab, the OAUX emerging technologies team, have posted new content about their trip to Las Vegas for this prestigious hackathon sponsored by AT&T. For more on the conceptual products that got their start there, see these two posts:

M2M, the Other IoT: Before IoT became THE buzzword, there was M2M (machine to machine). Some industries still refer to IoT as M2M, but overall the term Internet of Things has become the norm. M2M may better describe what IoT is meant to do: Machines talking to other machines.

SafeDrop – Part 2: Function and Benefits: While many companies have focused on the online security of eCommerce, the current package delivery at the last mile is still very much insecure. ECommerce is ubiquitous, and somehow people need to receive the physical goods. SafeDrop is a secure box for receiving a physical package delivery, without the need of recipient to be present.

    Title:
Attend the Visualizing Information Design Jam Workshop
    Announcement:

    Visualizing Information Design Jam!

In recent releases for Simplified Apps in all product lines, you'll notice the strong push towards making all our products visually engaging. Targeted use of visuals can be very effective in making data or actions needed more accessible and understandable. But, what makes a product visually engaging?

In this half day workshop, you'll learn concepts behind visualizations and get an opportunity to design your own visually engaging application. This is boot camp-style event for you to get hands-on training in the UX design process. Anyone with applications knowledge, business process or technical knowledge can participate.  You will plan and create a paper prototype of a visually engaging HCM application.  We will provide a business case study, user persona and other design artifacts. You will work in small teams, under the guidance of our Applications UX designers, to:

    1. Create use cases
    2. Deconstruct the persona’s “big questions”
    3. Determine which are the most salient points to design for
    4. Brainstorm and design a visually compelling UI to meet your persona’s key needs, allow him to understand data, and take action quickly

All teams will be given a toolkit with visual design pieces that they can leverage.

    Registration

The workshop will take place at Oracle Thames Valley Park, Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 13:00-17:00 pm GMT.

Space is limited to 20 attendees, first come, first served. Cloud customers may register, space permitting.  You must be physically present at the workshop for the entire afternoon, and able to devote your complete attention to working with your trainers and team (no email, phone calls, texting).  No special software is necessary for this event.  Send your name, organization, job title, and email address to alisa.hamai@oracle.com to enroll and receive further instructions.  Registration closes 10 June, 2015.
