    Financial technology innovation and the future of banking are hot topics. Wondering how the importance of financial applications and the Cloud fits into the OAUX PaaS4SaaS enablement offered to Oracle Partners? One example from EMEA: a Profource event summed up by Ultan O’Broin in this new post on the UsableApps blog. The event focused on building a Banking Cloud (ERP) solution using the UX Cloud RDK. This a great story about a FinTech solution, Ultan says, and it's our first hands-on event using the Release 10 Cloud UX RDK. 

    Pam Koertshuis, a Profouce consultant, also wrote about building the Banking Cloud solution with OAUX in this post.

    STILL THINKING ABOUT OPENWORLD: Profit Online takes a look at the OAUX Exchange, a special event held at Oracle OpenWorld every year, in this new article. In case you missed it, look for a cameo from OAUX Group Vice President Jeremy Ashley in this OpenWorld 2015 video from Oracle executives on cloud applications development.  And Lucas Jellema, a friend of the OAUX team from Amis, announced a whitepaper covering Oracle OpenWorld 2015 that shows how the philosophies of the OAUX team came through in demos shown at the conference.     Announcement:

    The wearable technology space is currently focused on smartwatches. Maybe you’re planning to get an Apple Watch, or maybe you already have one. Perhaps you’re interested in another kind of smartwatch or other wearable device and want to know Oracle’s position on wearables and the user experience. 

     

    Applying the Oracle Applications Cloud design philosophy to the smartwatch calls for an ideal realization of the first step of “Glance, Scan, Commit.” The UX needs to be simple, flexible, intuitive, and most of all, convenient. Smartwatch wearers need to keep that “right here, right now” feeling, having exactly what they need right when they need it.

    Abstract:

    Meltdown and Spectre Vulnerabilities Remediation - direct emails were also distributed to customer contacts during the week of 1/22/18.

    Announcement:

    Oracle has developed patches to address the Intel processor design flaws leading to the Spectre (CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715) and Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754) vulnerabilities. 

    In accordance with Oracle’s security update policies, Oracle will deploy these patches during upcoming weekends. You'll be notified one week in advance of your HCM being scheduled for the patching activity.

    In accordance with our vulnerability information policies, Oracle will not provide additional information about the specifics of vulnerabilities beyond what's provided in the Critical Patch Update (or Security Alert) advisory and pre-release note, the pre-installation notes, the readme files, and FAQs.

    Announcing the Next Generation of Oracle's Cloud Operations - Global Nerve Center
    Oracle has invested heavily in creating the next generation of Oracle’s Cloud operation center. In addition to the 21 Cloud Data Centers and Support worldwide, we are now pleased to introduce the Global Nerve Center (GNC).
    What Is the Global Nerve Center?
    The Global Nerve Center centralizes the best Cloud operations resources into locations worldwide. Oracle has constructed three massive, always-on, new command and operational facilities. These geographically-distributed locations provide a 24/7 ‘follow-the-sun’ support model, with the ultimate goal to improve the customer experience and success:

    Reading, UK – operational ramp-up started September 2015

    Bangalore, India – operational ramp-up started December 2015

    Bozeman, Montana – operational ramp-up planned for August 2017
    These three linked facilities are dedicated to handling maintenance activities, unplanned outages and incidents, and will provide more cogent, accurate, and timely information around outages and incidents. In addition to investing in the latest, cutting edge technology, we are also 100% committed in investing in our people. At the end of the day, it is the people that make the biggest difference.
    Oracle’s Cloud Services are being transitioned to this next generation Cloud operations center over time with several services already operational in GNC. The Fusion Applications Cloud Service is the next service scheduled to transition to GNC, and is targeted to be fully operational by the 2nd quarter of 2016.

    Transport Layer Security (TLS) Version 1.1 to be Disabled for All Fusion Environments

    To align with industry best practices for data security and integrity, Oracle Fusion SaaS is disabling TLS version 1.1 communication protocols. The new supported version will be TLS 1.2.

    This process will begin in late September 2019 and is scheduled to complete by the end of November 2019.  As of August 9, 2019, all customers received an initial communication with dates of the deprecation. Customers will receive reminder notifications 30 days and 7 days prior to the start of the activity.  We will also post information in My Oracle Support.  Please note that because this work is done at the data center level, we cannot perform a separate stage and production cutover.

    At Oracle, we know our community members are special, therefore we are constantly looking for new ways to deliver a unique and rewarding online community experience.

    Recently, we conducted 3rd party research on gamification and incentivization with the goal of increasing community collaboration, and we have identified an optimization opportunity.

    As a result, our activity-driven points system has been adjusted to align with current social best practices.  For example, members are now rewarded with more points when commenting on posts, providing product ideas, or rating other member's contributions.  By promoting collaboration, the whole community becomes more vibrant, all while contributors grow their personal brand and reputation.
