OTBI - Patching and impact on "Manage Priveleges"...65.0

    Title:
OTBI - Patching and impact on "Manage Priveleges" set-up
    Content:

    Hi All,

I was not aware so far, but it seems that with each patch, access set-up (Administration/Manage Priveleges) is brought to default values.

E.g. -  We dont want  Home and Header  - "New Menu" to be granted by default to BI Consumer Role but rather only to BI Administration Role.

Is there a way that we can somehow isolate this area from changes coming from the patch? We do have a checklist what needs to be done when this happens, but I was wondering if we can save ourselves a bit of time and not to do it with each quater patch?

    Regards,
    Janko

R13.19C Introducing OTBI Metadata Independent Mode Using BI...55.0

    Title:
R13.19C Introducing OTBI Metadata Independent Mode Using BI Cloud Connector (BICC)
    Summary:
Opt in to use the OTBI Metadata Independent Extract Mode in BICC introduced in R13.19C.
    Content:

    What is the Change?

Starting in Release 13.19C, BICC will no longer be dependent on the OTBI metadata repository, and the extract mode by default will use the OTBI metadata independent mode. Data Stores (or BIVOs) can be extracted independent of OTBI Metadata (RPD). The new BIVOs introduced in future releases of Oracle Applications Cloud will use OTBI metadata independent mode. The new mode eliminates the dependency on the existence of a BIVO in the OTBI metadata.

How to Opt In to use the OTBI Metadata Independent Mode for Extraction?

Refer to the attached document for detailed steps to opt in.

    Future Product Direction

The OTBI metadata (RPD) dependent mode is going to be deprecated in Release 20C. Oracle Development strongly recommends that you switch your BICC extracts to use OTBI metadata independent mode by 20C. Refer to the attached document for more detailed information.  If you have further questions, contact Oracle Support.

Issue in OBI Catalog with folders getting moved automatically
    Content:

    Hi,

We have seen a strange behaviour where sometimes any random folder in the catalog gets moved under another folder. This happens randomly without any intention. Oracle Support says this cannot happen unless someone accidentally triggers activity but we have seen this does happen.

Has someone else in the community also seen such strange behaviour?

    Regards,

How to run and schedule complex dashboards( around 90...5.0

How to run and schedule complex dashboards( around 90 columns)
    Summary:
How to run and schedule complex dashboards( around 90 columns)
    Content:

We have a complex report in Business Object(BO). we have converted it OBI Dasboard as part of migration

BO scheduled in infoview portal/Folder( not via mail)
1 which has aound 90 columns
    2.has 80 MB size ( BO size : Excel 2003)
3.current data of FY16 (9/1/2015 to till date) 6 months data
4.were able to break it down by 5 instances

We wanted to replicate the above behaviour in OBI and struggling.

With excel 2007 there is drastic change in size of file.
40 MB size file( Excel 2003) in B0 is equivalent to <2MB size in OBI( Excel 2007). So initial we thought we can schedule this huge dashboards via mail.
but ended up with the following issues.

    OBI
    1. We are not able to run the live dashboard in OBI for the same prompts
2.Live dashboard is continues to run for a long time without throwing any time out error. So that we are not able to find the break up
and also not able to find what is the maximum capsisty of that dashboard?
3.Maximum capsisty of dashboard we found is 10 days. this is very strange not expected at all.
we would need to create 36 agents for year. maintaining 36 agents for a single dashboard is huge task.
    4. We are not able to schedule this dashboard as we have no idea how to break down this report.

    This wierb behaviour with OBI
----> Why there is no time out error for dashboard if it not able to retrieve the data?
--->is this beacuse of increased numbe of columns?
---->Is this because of increased number cells?
---> is this beacuse of View limitation?

Can you please help us if any one come across the same situation.
Also tried the briefing book.it is even worse
when we add comlex dashboards to breifing book, screen is getting hanged.

Can you please help us how can we schedule complex dashbaords?
