    Trailing Spaces in OBIEE2

    Title:
    Trailing Spaces in OBIEE
    Summary:
    formatting question
    Content:
Hello! I am hoping to poll the community regarding some OBIEE formatting i'm trying to accomplish.

I have a report where I need to create trailing spaces and have fixed character length columns. I have leveraged casting as VARCHAR, overriding the default value to plain text (don't break spaces) and using the prefix in the advanced tab of

    SET VARIABLE DISABLE_RIGHTTRIM_FOR_VARCHAR=1,

    DISABLE_RIGHTTRIM_ON_LENGTH_FOR_VARCHAR=1;

I'm still not getting the results I am expecting. When I export it no matter the file type, its still trimmed and the trailing spaces are gone.

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

I really appreciate any advice! I haven't had much luck with the knowledge database and using on site resources to get this figured out.

The specificity of this formatting is due to a file we are sending off to a vendor where they have fixed character length columns included in the requirements.

    Thanks!

What application do you use to write your SQL74.8

What application do you use to write your SQL
    Content:

I'm very curious as to what other people use to write their SQL. Personally I am using NotePad++ (with the SQL language setting to help with syntax).

I do feel that there could be more software assistance and there might be some more automated applications out there which allow searching the repository, automatic joins, etc. Having a tool like this would speed up my work tremendously.

Would like to discuss in this topic what you use and what you like/dislike about it.

    Regards,
    Maarten

    Hello,

I have a need to see only the null values and future dates. I'm strugglin to get the syntax for my SQL expression in the filter. I'm using "Is greater than OR null. See screenshots. Any suggestions? If SQL expression is not the right way to go, I'm open to other options.

    Thanks,

BI Publisher CSV files or Reading from Content Server source4

BI Publisher CSV files or Reading from Content Server source
    Summary:
Reading files on the Content Server in BI Publisher
    Content:

    Hello,

I'm trying to create a report in BI Publisher that will read an external file as a data source.

I've tried adding a CSV file to my data model which allows me to upload a local file as a datasource. This seems to work, but the file doens't seem to exist in the catalog. How would we update the csv file?

We have started looking into storing something on the Content Server. (It is already have it setup as a datasource in BI Publisher but I haven't found any documentation on how to use it) I've seen this post and this one but neither have a suitable answer for reading content from the server.

Is there training anywhere on how to make this work?

How to modify the content of a column through a result...5.0

How to modify the content of a column through a result similar to RPAD

How to modify the content of a column through a result similar to RPAD - we want to create a report that will need to have a specific lenght per column & wish to have a result similar to RPAD function
    Content:

    Hi,

We want to create a report that will need to have a specific length per column & wish to have a result similar to a RPAD function.

In other words, the length of the column values is determined (for example 30 characters) and the column is filled with the data of the element selected in the analysis + spaces until it reaches 30.

Is this possible through an analysis or a Logical SQL function (OTBI seems to use Logical SQL which doesn't know the RDAP function and therefore doesn't allow us this action until now ...).

    best,

    Theo

Is Orders data available through the OTBI layer in Order Management / SCM?

Reason I am asking because when I querying direct table (doo_header_all) via BI Publisher, I get the data from this table.

But when I use 'Issue SQL' on OTBI Administration section and write following query -

    select_physical

    headerId, OrderNumber

    from "FscmTopModelAM.DooTopAM.Header"

    I don't get any records.

I need your help as I was asked not to use BI Publisher for data extraction (where I want order and line data to be extracted in every 10 minutes) hence evaluating data sync tool but I do not get any data when I used above query.

    Summary:
How do I display previous 30 days of data
    Content:

Could someone please show me how to tweak the below formula.  I’d like to pull data from the previous 30 days; however, it seems to be pulling for the future 30 days instead.

                   timestampadd(sql_tsi_day, 30, current_date)

When I change the formula to the below example it gives me an error and doesn't return any data:

                    timestampadd(sql_tsi_day, -(30), current_date)

    Thank you.
