    Title:
    Custom BI Webcat Reporting Duty
    Summary:
Trying to hide seeded reporting folders and understand the updated options within 19D
    Content:

We are keen to have the option to hide seeded folders from users. Changing permissions on seeded report folders comes up with the following error:

"In-place customizations are not allowed on factory delivered content. Save your customizations in /shared/custom"

    ***

We were really pleased therefore to see the following release notes for 19D:

    https://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/tutorial/cloud/r13/wn/common/releases/19D/19D-common-wn.htm#F10098

However, I am trying to understand how it works. Has anyone used these roles yet?

The BI Consumer role still has traverse permissions to these seeded folders, therefore struggling to understand how assigning another role counters this.

Also - the Custom BI Webcat Reporting Duty, which is the Duty Role that it is advised we edit put into a role and assign, is unable to be copied. Is this what people would expect?

If anyone can give any further detail on how this works, it would be much appreciate. Keen to lock down some of these seeded reporting folders.

    Kind regards,

    Sian.

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel error - Please Help
    Content:

    Hi All,

In last few months, for the second time we are facing one quite strange issue. Random users, with random reports (or some user with all reports) are facing following error message and code:

We had technical SR (3-20715306161) where we bounce the server at one point of time which still didnt fix the issue. Issue was gone after 3,4 days.

    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. (HY000)

State: HY000. Code: 43113. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. (HY000)

    State: HY000. Code: 43119. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: (HY000)

State: HY000. Code: 17001. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 3113, message: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel Process ID: 246507 Session ID: 6224 Serial number: 29851 at OCI call OCIStmtExecute: BEGIN fnd_session_mgmt.attach_session('9861821953AF9216E0534C8D630A8F6D'); END;. (HY000)

State: HY000. Code: 17011. [nQSError: 17011] SQL statement execution failed. (HY000)

Now we are having the same problem, it does impact less people  accross the globe (Germany, UK, Singapore) than the previous time, but at still reports are erroring quite randomley and also some users cannot run any. Clearing cache/ logging in out does not solve a problem.

Users on the front end are just sseeing error - Please contact your system Adminsitrator where back in the logs we are seeing the error from above.

Did anyone face similar issue in the past or at the moment and are there are any recommendation/ ideas how to solve it and what could be the rootcause?

    Regards,
    Janko

    What is catalog folder Extension?
    Summary:
Does anyone know the purpose of the empty shared folder Extension in the catalog?
    Content:

    The folder is empty.

A duty role exists for it, BI_EXT_REPORTING_DUTY, but unlike the other folders, the permissions on this folder have not been updated so that only people with that role see this folder.

I had been doing the following configuration to assign folder reporting duty roles to role

    Custom BI Webcat Reporting Duty

CONFIGURE NEW BI REPORTING DUTY ROLES TO HIDE THE FACTORY CATALOG FOLDERS

    Convert Date Field
    Summary:
    Convert from MM/DD/YYYY to YYYY-Qx
    Content:

    Hello,

I have a date field I want to convert. I want to convert that from MM/DD/YYY to "YYYY-Qx". Any thoughts on how to do this? I've tried using the Calendar functions in the formula. They work, but don't get me the exact above format. I have to use two separate columns. One gets the quarter number so, in the example above, it would just say "1". The other column I'm able to get the year "2020". When I try do a Concat in the 3rd column, I get syntax error b/c I think it doesn't like to concatenate formulas apparently. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Stephanie

BI Scheduled Report Job and Daylight Savings Time15.0

BI Scheduled Report Job and Daylight Savings Time
    Summary:
We had a scheduled that ran an hour early after daylight savings time ended
    Content:

There is a scheduled report job that runs at 5:30am each wednesday.  With daylight savings time ending this past weekend, the job ran at 4:30am instead of 5:30am.  The schedule was set up to run at 5:30 Eastern Time, but it doesn't say EST/EDT.  I did update the start date to next week in an effort to get it to run back at 530am but wasn't sure if anyone had any advise to ensure that the system runs this at the same time no matter daylight savings time.

This report is based off of an HCM extract in the system, and that process worked as expected with the daylight savings time change, only BI had the issue.

    Trailing Spaces in OBIEE2

    Title:
    Trailing Spaces in OBIEE
    Summary:
    formatting question
    Content:
Hello! I am hoping to poll the community regarding some OBIEE formatting i'm trying to accomplish.

I have a report where I need to create trailing spaces and have fixed character length columns. I have leveraged casting as VARCHAR, overriding the default value to plain text (don't break spaces) and using the prefix in the advanced tab of

    SET VARIABLE DISABLE_RIGHTTRIM_FOR_VARCHAR=1,

    DISABLE_RIGHTTRIM_ON_LENGTH_FOR_VARCHAR=1;

I'm still not getting the results I am expecting. When I export it no matter the file type, its still trimmed and the trailing spaces are gone.

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

I really appreciate any advice! I haven't had much luck with the knowledge database and using on site resources to get this figured out.

The specificity of this formatting is due to a file we are sending off to a vendor where they have fixed character length columns included in the requirements.

    Thanks!

OTBI - Patching and impact on "Manage Priveleges"...65.0

    Title:
OTBI - Patching and impact on "Manage Priveleges" set-up
    Content:

    Hi All,

I was not aware so far, but it seems that with each patch, access set-up (Administration/Manage Priveleges) is brought to default values.

E.g. -  We dont want  Home and Header  - "New Menu" to be granted by default to BI Consumer Role but rather only to BI Administration Role.

Is there a way that we can somehow isolate this area from changes coming from the patch? We do have a checklist what needs to be done when this happens, but I was wondering if we can save ourselves a bit of time and not to do it with each quater patch?

    Regards,
    Janko

OTBI - Not exists / Outer Join ?
    Summary:
Can we write a report where something DOESNT exist?
    Content:

I want to create a report where we list where a user HASNT entered their timecard records.

So effectively I'm looking for either an outer join, or to say "give me all the people records where NOT EXISTS Select timecards from last week etc"

In SQL I could easily use NOT IN, or an outer join etc - is this doable in OTBI ??
