How are customers using Oracle Policy Automation (OPA)?
    Content:

The top question I hear from customers is “Where can OPA provide the most value to my organization?”.  Oracle Policy Automation is well-suited for simple to complex customer service scenarios. It brings agility and transparency to personalized self-service advice, decisions, recommendations and more. OPA interviews provide personalized online guidance that can be deployed across multiple channels, including on mobile devices.

OPA can be used to answer questions like these:

    • Can I exchange this product?
    • Do I qualify for a refund?
    • What is the cost of my insurance?

Want to know how OPA applies to your industry?  See the attached presentation, which has many examples including links to online sites and demonstration projects.

    Contact creation - Check
    Content:

    Hi All,

I need to check whether the given email id have contact or not. if the mentioned email id has contact, i need to create incident for that contact. if the email id not having contact then create a contact as well as incident for that contact.

    Example:

Its like a enquiry page. First user enter their information like first name, last name and email address then they will give interested product details through opa interview. if that particular email id has contact then incident should create under that email id.(only incident). if given email id not having contact then contact as well incident should be create (contact + incident). i need to check contact before creating incident.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Error 'The value of a read-only or hidden control can not be changed. This value will be discarded'
    Content:

I have an OPA which is displaying an error 'The value of a read-only or hidden control can not be changed. This value will be discarded'.

On the prior screen, I have a Attachment control which is mandatory.  Even when the user attaches a document, this message displays on the following screen.  If I make the Attachment optional, the message does not display.

    Any idea?

Collecting one out of a group of fieldsAnswered7

    Title:
Collecting one out of a group of fields
    Content:

I have several places in an interview where I'm collecting several similar types of fields as multiple phone numbers.  The requirement is to put a field up for office phone, mobile phone, etc., and accept the input if at least one of the fields in completed.

For this application, I'm just using the global entity.  It doesn't seems to make sense to complicate the setup with others.  I read Jasmine Lee's best practice guide

I created a rule that says:

the job site contact's phone information has been collected if

the job site contact office phone is known or

the job site contact mobile phone is known

Then, I try to use that attribute to control the Optional If setting for the 2 fields.

It's not working.  Whether one is filled out and passes validation or not, the other is mandatory.

In the debugger, the "has been collected" attribute is always unknown.

What am I missing?  Is there a better way to go about this?

How to pick 'Date of Birth' from Calendar instead of typing '2017-01-10'
    Content:

    Hi,

While designing interviews, we might ask the candidates to enter his 'Date of Birth', 'Start date in the company'. Do we have provisions to allow the candidates to pick these dates from a calendar (as shown in attachment) instead of typing the dates.

    Thanks

    Shyam

Number of days in the monthAnswered7

Number of days in the month
    Content:

    Hi,

I am trying to learn and try out the examples mentioned in OPA tutorials. In 'Number of days in the month" example, I thought user input is not required and the total number of days in the current month will be directly displayed on the screen.

This is the code in that example and entire logic's input is based on 'the date', I fail to understand why when executing this in debug mode, I have been prompted for 'what is the start of the month' and 'what is the start of next month'.

the number of days in the month = DayDifference(the start of the month, the start of next month)

the start of the month = MakeDate(the year, the month, 1)

the start of next month =  AddMonths(the start of the month, 1)

    the year = ExtractYear(the date)

    the month = ExtractMonth(the date)
