    Customer Portal 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 Deprecation Announcement

    Customer Portal 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 have been deprecated as of May 2016.

    Customer Portal versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2

    The Oracle Service Cloud Customer Portal versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 are deprecated as of May 2016. Customers on those versions, as well as the Customer Portal 2 version, are encouraged to migrate their Customer Portal implementations to version 3.3 or higher.

    How long do I have to migrate my customer portal implementation?
    The deprecation period for Customer Portal 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 starts May 2016.  These deprecated versions will remain available in Service Cloud for at least 2 years prior to the actual removal of the functionality.  A subsequent announcement will be made that provides a limited time window to complete any in-progress migrations off the of the deprecated releases.

    Why are these versions being deprecated?
    In an effort to ensure Oracle provides high-quality releases it is necessary to deprecate older products so that we may be allowed to focus on new, exciting features. Oracle would like to encourage all Customer Portal users to obtain the latest release of the product.

    Are there new features in Customer Portal 3.3 and beyond?
    Customer Portal version 3.3 introduced a major feature called Community Self Service which is a native solution that allows users to communicate and collaborate via forum posts and gain insight from their peers. In addition, version 3.3 leverages responsive design principles to improve the user experience across multiple device types, adds product-based navigation and product landing pages, numerous cascading style sheet improvements and contains over 70 widget updates.

    What if I don’t migrate?
    As of this writing (May 2016) the End of Life has not been announced for any version of Customer Portal; however, we encourage all customers to consume the latest supported versions of Customer Portal as defects will not be addressed in older, deprecated versions and no new functionality will be ported back to those deprecated releases.

    "$" Not Supported in Production Mode?

    I'm experiencing certain strange behavior on the CP while using the $ symbol in a view. I've a page (view) which shows some information in a tabular format. In one row, I have the following line of code:


    On viewing the page in Development mode, the output is as expected. I see the word "Fee: " and "$48" beside it. But upon Staging and Promoting, the same page is showing a different output.

    I can see the word "Fee: ", but "$40" doesn't get printed on the screen. On viewing the source code of the page, I found out that "$40" is skipped altogether. I see the following lines in the page source


    If, however, I remove the $ from "$40" and then Stage and Promote the page and then view in Production mode, "40" is then visible on the screen.

    This makes me wonder if there is an issue with the use of $ on the CP. Is it some kind of a reserved character or does it get escaped/removed by the parser automatically? And what could be the reason that $ works in Development mode, but not in Production mode?

    I'd like to build a page for a portion of our site that checks if a user has previously accepted an End User License Agreement (EULA) and if not redirects them to the EULA form for review.  The history will be tracked in a custom Contact field we have added.  My thought is to create a EULA widget to handle loading the proper EULA text and capturing the user response, as well as a verification widget to handle the security/gateway for the protected areas.

    Has anyone built something like this in CP and if so would you mind sharing your solution?

    "Add to Incident" and "Add to New Incident" tab is not showing in ribbon while chat.


    On our test site "Add to Incident" and "Add to New Incident" tab is showing in ribbon when agent chat with the customer.

    But on our live site  these two tab are not showing in ribbon when agent doing chat with customer.

    Is there is any config setting for this.

    Is there any example of how to implement a "Close SR" button in customer portal like in My Oracle Support to close incidents manually by customers??

    Oracle Apps Customer Connect community was migrated from the Feb 2015 version of the Community to the Aug 2015 version of the Community in late October. I am told that even as of early September (prior to the migration), a Super Admin was able to change the email associated with a member within the Community. But, recently, a Super Admin tried to change the email of another member (she has a new married name hence a “new” email) but wasn’t able to. I am told that there used to be an “Edit” button for a Super Admin to be able to change that info. There doesn’t appear to be one anymore.

    Could it be that we are missing something? Or, is there another way we can achieve the same result? Or, did this functionality get stripped out of the Aug 2015 Community version?

    If this functionality did indeed get stripped out, would the best way to still be able to associate all this user's content back with herself is to create a new account in CX with her "new" email and once the Community is populated with that new profile, we have to do an edit metadata to move all her content from old account to the new one?

    Hi experts,

    We are in middle of CP migration process from 3.3 to 3.7. We have  rn field tag used in our codes as given below:

    <rn:field name="Answer.Question" /> and 

    <rn:field name="Answer.Solution" />

    I checked in object explorer, tag looks good, but still, page is showing error as given below:

    "Fout met rn:field-tag: Het primaire object Answer wordt niet ondersteund"


    "Error with rn: field tag: The primary object answer is not supported"

    We have not yet deployed it in prod or stage, it is still in development site.

    Anyone encountered same issue or has idea about it, kindly comment. Any lead is appreciated.

    "Fatal error" when calling Report_model::getDataXML


    When executing this line of code:

    $reportRes = $CI->Report_model->getDataXML(self::REPORT_ID_IS_CONTACT_EMAIL_VALID, createToken(self::REPORT_ID_IS_CONTACT_EMAIL_VALID), array(), array());

    I am receiving this error message:

    Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 142344192) (tried to allocate 20 bytes) in /cgi-bin/***.cfg/scripts/euf/application/rightnow/models/standard/report_model.php on line 887

    I have checked line 887 of the report_model:

    sql_bind_col($si, $i++, BIND_INT, 0);

    I have tested this code on another interface of the site and it works without any errors.

    Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong here?

    I have extended a widget and model which works perfectly on the home page, when I use it on the product/detail page I get:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined method RightNow\Models\Prodcat::getExtendedDirectDescendants() in /cgi-bin/**site**.cfg/scripts/cp/customer/development/widgets/custom/navigation/ExtendedVPCS/1.0/controller.php on line 13

    Line 13:

    if (!$items = $this->CI->model('Prodcat')->getExtendedDirectDescendants($hierarchyType, $itemID)->result) return false;

    Prodcat has been extended into CustomProdcat which contains getExtendedDirectDescendants(). The Prodcat is overridden with an appropriate entry in config/extensions.yml.

    The widget extends VisualProductCategorySelector which provides a visual way to navigate through your product structure but adds a count of questions, comments and views per visible product.  When you click a product icon it navigates you down the product hierarchy via product/detail/p/*ProductID* page.  Widget works as intended on app/home but I get this error when I click through to a product detail page such as app/products/detail/p/123 or when I manually navigate to an equivalent page.

    If I also change the function back to the original in the widget controller, it works.

    When I add the widget to app/questions/detail/ or app/social/ask it works fine, albeit as it would appear on the home page.

    app/questions/detail/qid/44 - Works

    app/products/detail/ - Works

    app/products/detail/p/712 - Breaks :(

    "putting" ask.php from dreamweaver not working

    Hi, hoping someone can help with this

    I am having a problem "putting" some changes to my development site but it doesnt seem to be affecting every file. I can "put" CSS changes fine and they go through straight way, i can also make changes to detail.php and these also go through fine.

    Following exactly the same process for ask.php but my changes never appear on the development site.

    Is there any reason for this?
