ORDS CRUD Generator tool on ATP / APEX

    Title:
ORDS CRUD Generator tool on ATP / APEX
    Summary:
I've made a CRUD Generator tool that can create an SQL script that creates a complete CRUD operation and a PATCH procedure
    Content:

I would like to share something that can benefit everyone working with ATP and Oracle Rest Data Services (ORDS), being: the ORDS CRUD Generator.

It can automagically create all CRUD operations in the REST layer of Oracle's new Autonomous Transaction Processing database (ATP). Check out my blog how and also the link to the working JSFiddle.

We are working towards a real database under the Process and Rapid Application Development layers, and this tool makes life a lot easier for us. The reason to use this tool for us is twofold, extensibility (easily can add / edit REST services) and a better CI/CD strategy. I just wanted to share this post so others can freely use the tool if they need it.

Oracle Cloud Free Tier - Autonomous DB - ORDS 503 error,...115.0

Oracle Cloud Free Tier - Autonomous DB - ORDS 503 error, cannot connect
    Summary:
ATP - Neither APEX Link, nor SQL Dev Web Link, nor connect using local SQL Dev 19.2 works
    Content:

    Hi all,

I alrready posted this yesterday in the general Infrastructure forum, but as per Richard Garsthagen's suggestion, I'm reposting this here as well.

I just wanted to give Oracle Cloud a test drive using the newly announced Always Free tier. But sadly, after provisioning ATP DB instance (serverless), I found that I cannot use it at all.

In the service console (Development), neither of the APEX link nor the SQL Developer Web links work. Both give the below error message (see image)

Furthermore, when I try to connect with a locally installed SQL Developer 19.2 using the connect option "Cloud Wallet" and specifying the download wallet.zip, SQL Developer displays the error message (in german): "Status: Nicht erfolgreich - Test nicht erfolgreich: I/O Fehler: Remote host closed connection during handshake".

Now lastly, when I try to use a locally installed 11.2.0.4 client (I merged sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora from wallet.zip with my already present files residing in my TNS_ADMIN directory, I have unzipped wallet.zip, and in sqlnet.ora I have modified: "WALLET_LOCATION = (SOURCE = (METHOD = file) (METHOD_DATA = (DIRECTORY="D:\\Oracle\\tnsadmin\\Wallet_PS1")))"...

Now when I tnsping my instance, it gives:

    d:\Users\Peter>tnsping ps1_high

TNS Ping Utility for 64-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.4.0 - Production on 29-SEP-2019 17:36:50

Copyright (c) 1997, 2013, Oracle.  All rights reserved.

    Used parameter files:
    D:\Oracle\tnsadmin\sqlnet.ora

Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (description= (address=(protocol=tcps)(port=1522)(host=adb.eu-frankfurt-1.oraclecloud.com))(connect_data=(service_name=slfrbg3r0ej3ocb_ps1_high.atp.oraclecloud.com))(security=(ssl_server_cert_dn= CN=adwc.eucom-central-1.oraclecloud.com,OU=Oracle BMCS FRANKFURT,O=Oracle Corporation,L=Redwood City,ST=California,C=US)))
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

So, nothing seems to work at all, and I'm completey lost. Stopping and restarting did not help.

    Can anyone help, please?

    Thanks and regards,

    Peter

Oracle OpenWorld, the largest conference for Oracle customers, partners, developers and technology enthusiasts starts on September 16th in San Francisco. There are multiple opportunities for you to meet the Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP) product team, and to learn about the latest updates, in one of our conference sessions, hands-on labs or at the Oracle Autonomous showcase.

To find out how customers are using ATP, you can attend the customer case study and the customer panel session. If you have questions on ATP, come and talk to us at the ATP Demo booth ADB-005 in the Autonomous showcase area, opposite The Exchange in Moscone South, from Mon to Wed during showcase hours.

For details on the ATP sessions including the date and time and the location, please see the ATP program guide (bit.ly/OOW19ATP)

We hope to see you there!

    Hi,

what is recommended approach to access the data in ATP database. Using REST service what oracle cloud technology should be used.

I tried Oracle Application Container Cloud (nodejs) works perfectly fine.

Want to know what other options are in table.

ATP : Network Latency / ATP Db Read Replicas/ caching1

ATP : Network Latency / ATP Db Read Replicas/ caching
    Summary:
ATP Database / Oracle Application Container Cloud : Network Latency / ATP Db Read Replicas/ caching
    Content:

we are using ATP database & hosted the REST service in Oracle Application Container Cloud. So we will be consuming that service from our Oracle Commerce Cloud Application.

    https://www.oracle.com/database/autonomous-transaction-processing.html

    https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/app-container-cloud/index.html

So I have few question related to the above topic -

    1) We are global application, Oracle Commerce Cloud will be accessed around the globe. How the ATP database in Ashburn region will respond to network latency in other end of globe like (China, India, Singapore). Do we have any read replicas of ATP database in different location.

    2) We are using Oracle Application Container, how to handle load balancing to ATP database.

    3) Is there caching mechanism available for Application Container code.

    4) How do you decide the number of instance in Application Container Cloud. Like do oracle have any recommendation how many instance or memory needed for specific number of users.

Object storage access via Cloud console to business users2

    Title:
Object storage access via Cloud console to business users
    Content:

    Hello,

    Allow group Data_Team to manage objects in compartment ABC where all {target.bucket.name='BucketA', any {request.permission='OBJECT_CREATE', request.permission='OBJECT_INSPECT’}}

With this policy defined, I plan to create business users and assign them to the group Data_Team. Here is my question, appreciate any insights on this.

Can users of Data_Team (group) use cloud console UI to upload files to the object storage bucket? Or is it just via APIs / CLI ?
In this  use case , business users procure large lists of external data in XLS/CSV files.  If we can achieve the above, I'm thinking of allowing business users to upload files to Object storage via a browser and then developers can access & load them to tables. In Cloud console UI, Data_Team should just see Object storage link enabled (no other option).

    Regards,
    Pramoda
