The new functionality available in this update includes:

Conditional Text in Management Reports: You can use the Conditional Formatting framework to generate dynamic text based on predefined conditions and a combination of static text and text functions, which return member labels and data values to complete the resulting text. The Conditional Text results can be displayed in a text box, row, column or cell utilizing a new text function.

New Narrative Reporting Smart View Extension: The Narrative Reporting 19.08 Extension for Oracle Smart View for Office is available. This update includes an improved Embed Contents dialog, along with general performance improvements and bug fixes.

Essbase connection on Smart View change to newAnswered2

Essbase connection on Smart View change to new
    Summary:
Is there a quick way to update SV connection on existing Essbase retrieve files?
    Content:

We upgraded the Hyperion applications and users need to change to new connections on Smart View.

When they open a Essbase retreive file, it still prompt them to connect to the old database (even though the old connections have been removed from Smart View already). They have to go to each tab, connect to the new database, click on "Ad hoc analysis" so that it takes the new connection. This only needs to be done once per tab. But it's still a lot of work.

It seems the Essbase connection is stored as a "memory" in the files? Is there a way to quickly switch the files to the new connection? Thank you!

SmartView Backwards Compatible with older version of Excel1

SmartView Backwards Compatible with older version of Excel
    Summary:
Is SmartView 11.1.2.5 900 compatible with older version of Excel
    Content:

    Hello Essbase World,

I have a question about SmartView and Excel when connecting to Essbase.  Is the newest version of SmartView (11.2.5 900) backwards compatible with older versions of Excel?  If so, what is the oldest version of Excel that it works with?  We are looking to troubleshoot some problems with SmartView, and need to know compatibility.  I do know from the compatibility matrix that it states in text that SV 11.1.2.5.000 onwards supports Office 2013, 11.1.2.5.520 onwards supports MS Office 2016, 11.1.2.5.900 onwards supports Office 2019.  It doesn't state whether newer versions of SV will support older versions of Excel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The formatting changes between the Word doclet and the Excel Reference Doclet

e.g. positioning of the labels, data lines and some degradation of quality (resolution has dropped)

So image in the Word doclet looks different from the Excel Reference doclet, this is using a names range and Embedded object

This appears to be the label length that causes the non-resolution format issues as having one character works

Extracting specific rows from master XLS extract by business area
    Content:

I have a source that produces a master extract with Actuals by category and half year, with a section total

The end report is broken up by business area and each business area just needs a subset of these categories with an appropriate change in the section totals

How can this be achieved without creating a separate custom extract sheet for each business unit

Almost needs a Business Unit - Category lookup and match on all categories that match the Business Unit lookup

Method to find intersection with actual data in Essbase with SmartView

I'm trying to find a simple way of targeting an intersection where there is non-missing, non-zero data.
    Content:

    Hello Oracle Essbase World,

I have a fairly simple question regarding SmartView and Essbase.  It's on the cloud, but that isn't relevant for this question.  What is the easiest way to find an intersection with actual non-missing, non-zero data?  I have heard there are VBS scripts that can do that, but is there a simpler way?  If not, what is the best method to be able to jump to an intersection where this exists?

    Thanks!

Does any one aware of why the feature "Server-Initiated Refresh" is not enabled in EPRCS.

To enable this feature, We must need to raise an Service Request as mentioned in the document.

The server-initiated refresh feature is made available to customers on request. Service Administrators create a service request with Oracle Support to enable server-initiated data refresh.

Planning Analyze not working - " Ad hoc grid can not be opened as there are no valid rows of data"
    Content:

    Hello,

After the May update we noticed an odd behavior when trying to ad-hoc analyze some specific forms. Both users and administrator are receiving the following error: " Ad hoc grid can not be opened as there are no valid rows of data". I made sure the Suppress Missing Rows / Columns / Suppress Blocks are cleared. Is happening even when trying to ad-hoc analyze a form that has data on it.

We tested out on Excel 2016 64- bit and Office 365. We tested with the following versions of SmartView: 11.1.2.5.900 and 11.1.2.5.810.

    Could you please advise?

    Thank you,

    Laura
