    Search the learning catalog2100%
Idea posted June 29, 2020 by Darren SavageSilver Medal: 2,000+ Points, tagged Courses/Classes, Learning, Public Sector in HCM Idea Labs > Idea Lab – Learn public
    Title:
    Search the learning catalog
    Description:

User experience within the search bar of the Learning front page has changed, moving to responsive UI.

The non-responsive UI experience did not have a dropdown list within the search bar, which can be seen as an improvement, however, overall functionality feels like a diminished user experience.

Idea: Is there a way to re-introduce the ability to enter a search term and press the return key on keyboard/click Browse Catalog button/re-introduce magnifying glass icon, to then navigate to Learning Items results? I think this is seen as basic universal search bar functionality.

    Use Case and Business Need:

Introduction of a search bar that does not allow user to click on a search icon or the return key on their keyboard, once they have entered a search term, feels unintuitive. Users frustration with functionality may lead to increase in calls to provide guidance, or see disengagement with system

    More details:

    Navigation: Me > Learning >

Within Responsive UI, ‘Search the learning catalog’ bar is restrictive and specific in how the user is able to interact with it:

    • Click on the arrow to the right of the bar, which returns a dropdown list with a limited sample of courses/learning communities etc.
      • If the option you want is not held within this sample, click on Advanced Search to navigate to the Learning Items page
    • Enter text for the Learning Item Title you wish to search for, and select from the returned dropdown results
    • If you leave the search bar blank, and click on the Browse Catalog button, to navigate to the Learning Items page
    • If you enter a term to search and click on the return key on your keyboard, nothing happens
    • If you enter a term to search and click on the Browse Catalog button, nothing happens
    • If you enter a term to search, but then decide to navigate away from the page via a tile, or the return arrow button on the page, nothing happens
      • You must delete the search term, before being able to navigate away via a tile or return arrow on page

As a reminder, within Non-responsive UI, the ‘What are you looking for?’ search bar allowed you to enter text and then either

    • Click on the return key on your keyboard, to navigate to results on the Learning Catalog page
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon, to navigate to results on the Learning Catalog page
    • Click on the Browse Recently Added Learning button, to navigate to the Learning Catalog page
    • Or alternatively, you could leave text in the search and navigate away from the page by clicking on any of the available tiles.

Need Sample Time entry rule to validate specific timecard...2100%

    Title:
Need Sample Time entry rule to validate specific timecard type in OTL
    Organization Name:
    Nottingham City Council
    Description:

    Hi,
There are some examples provided by Oracle for different Time entry rules in OTL. But none of them specify how to make Time entry rules work for a specific element. This idea is created so as Oracle can provide a TER template for following case, as currently this is a big theoritical gap.

For example formula, ORA_WFM_TER_WEEKEND_UNITS_AP will restrict the time entry on weekends, but it do so for all Payroll time type. There is no attribute to control if we need to do this for a particular element in payroll time type only.
    Consider this example:
An employee can enter hours against three payroll time types: Element A, Element B, and Element C. However employee should not be able to enter any hours on weekend only for Element C. For element A and element B however employee can enter the timesheets on any day of the week. There is no such illustration or example in any of the TER formulas to achieve some functionality.

Please note that I tried to use ORA_WFM_TER_WEEKEND_UNITS_AP formula to achieve this requirement. PayrollTimeType array gives the name of payroll time types element in timecard, and HWM_CTXARY_RECORD_POSITIONS gives the hours/quantity information for each cell, but this does not correspond to PayrollTimeType index. Thus there is no link established between these two arrays due to which I am not able to validate a particular time type on particular days.

I have added the attachment for the formula.

    Use Case and Business Need:

Without this validation there will be no proper validations for a particular element against weekends and other conditions. Employee will be overpaid.

Create group of standard alerts for different Learning...183%

    Title:
Create group of standard alerts for different Learning situations.
    Organization Name:
    St. Croix County
    Description:

Would be nice if a standard group of alerts was preconfigured by Oracle and built into the Learning module for easy use.

    Use Case and Business Need:

Effort to create custom alerts seems daunting. A standard starting set of alerts seems logical and beneficial for all users.

    More details:

We do not have any custom alerts created yet, so employees are not being notified that they have outstanding Learning assignments.

    Organise Resources within Learning Communities2100%

    Title:
    Organise Resources within Learning Communities
    Description:

In house team Learning and Development Team create many Communities within Oracle, with resources being added throughout year. New courses entered into a community appear at top of list. This pushes previously entered courses to bottom of list.

My enhancement request is to provide a tool to enable re-organisation of Resources within Learning Communities

    Use Case and Business Need:

Departmental priorities change constantly, therefore the development needs that users need to access also change. However there are also some development opportunities which are always relevant to the department, and with the current system, these courses get pushed to the bottom of the community by new ones. As a consequence users cannot easily find development opportunities within the communities, and they eventually give up.

Being able to organise and prioritise the development opportunities within the communities would help to improve the number of users accessing the development opportunities available. The in house Learning and Development Team needs to un-publish, amend and republish courses in order to move them to the top of the list of resources available.

Add a user permission to BI Reporting for sub Learncenter...100%

    Title:
Add a user permission to BI Reporting for sub Learncenter only
    Description:

Add a user permission to keep BI reporting at the individual sub Learn Center only.  Ensure that data from one sub is not in reports from another if this permission is checked.  Have the option available to report globally or just at the individual sub level through permissions instead of adding filters for LCID in each report.

    Use Case and Business Need:

We have muliple sub learncenters managed by different groups in our organization.  Each group administrator should not have the ability to report on another group's data.  We would like to ensure that from the co-owner level, we could restrict this through permissions instead of asking each group to add a LCID filter to their reports (especially for user data).

Delegate (pa/admin etc) access to book courses on...1100%

Delegate (pa/admin etc) access to book courses on behalf of others
    Use Case and Business Need:

    Hi,

We would like the ability to have delegate access to allow the booking of courses on behalf of others. Associated calendar bookings would then need o be assigned to the correct individual ie not the person booking.

In simple terms a PA/admin staff could book a course on behalf of their manager, much like the current ERP expenses functionality allows delegates (as assigned by the line manager) to raise claims upon their behalf.

    Add an Instructor View Widget
    Description:
Instructor Widget with Training Dashboard and BI Reports
    Use Case and Business Need:

We would like to see the creation of a front-facing instructor widget that allows instructors to view all the courses/ILTs they are scheduled to teach, any assignments they need to review, a list of their course evaluation results and more. Essentially, we want to make it so the instructor does not need administrative privileges to access the control panel.

Build Course to show new features on new releases
    Use Case and Business Need:

It would be great if when a new release was rolled out that a course could be rolled out as well that gets installed into the learn center or is available to get installed in the learn center.   It would help the administrators and systems folks know what to look for and what has changed.    We could assign it off to either the Admin Job profile or learning plan.

I think it would make the transition easier.   It would also help out for all of us who have to validate the software due to regulatory requirements.

[Under Oracle Review] Provide the ability to restore Job...1100%

    Title:
[Under Oracle Review] Provide the ability to restore Job Profiles
    Description:
In the learn center if a Job Profile is deleted you have to open an SR to restore the Job Profile
    Use Case and Business Need:

Can the system treat Job profiles like learning plans and training offerings in the sense that if someone accidentally deletes a Job Profile that the administrator can come in and restore it?

This has happened a few times to us due to wrong rights trickling down to our regional leads.   I have had to reach out to Oracle (who did a great Job) to revive the Job Profiles.   It took a bit of time to do and I believe that this is something that should be able to be handled by an Admin.

Can this be something that the Admin is given rights to do?
