    R13.18A OTBI BI Catalog Lockdown44.6

    Title:
    R13.18A OTBI BI Catalog Lockdown
    Summary:
With 13.18A release customers will no longer be able to modify the shipped BI catalog content.
    Content:

    R13.18A OTBI Product Alert

This product alert is published by Oracle OTBI Product Development.

Release 13.18A Factory BI Catalog Lockdown

To minimize upgrade regression, an enhancement has been introduced in the 13.18A release to permanently make the shipped BI catalog content read-only.  If users attempt to modify the shipped BI catalog content including folder permissions, they will receive an alert "You are not allowed to modify factory content. Save your own content in /Shared/Custom."  Customers that upgrade from R12 to R13 will no longer be able to make changes to the delivered BI catalog even with BI Administrator role. Starting with R13.18A, BI catalog folders will behave as follows:

    • Customers must save all custom content in /Shared/Custom folder or create new sub-folders under /Shared to maintain custom content.
    • Except for /Shared/Custom folder, customers can no longer make any modifications to the delivered BI catalog. If a user attempts to add, change or remove any object including permission list in the delivered catalog folder, he/she will get an error "You are not allowed to modify factory content. Save your own content in /Shared/Custom."
    • Customers are permitted to retain EXISTING custom top-level folders under Shared. All existing content in those top-level custom folders will be preserved.
    • Customers cannot add, remove or change permissions on the shipped folders, e.g. /Shared/ Human Capital Management
    • Customers cannot modify the folder permissions to 'hide' the shipped factory catalog folder, e.g. hide /Shared/Marketing.
    Impact on R12 upgrade customers:
    • For customers upgrading from R12, all existing custom content in /Shared/Custom or custom folders under /Shared and their sub-folders will remain as they are.  However, if customers have modified the content in the delivered BI catalog folders, e.g. added custom reports, modified delivered reports, modified folder or report permission, all changes to this content will be lost after the R13 upgrade.  Customers are advised to archive their custom BI catalog to a file prior to R13 upgrade; and after R13 upgrade customers can unarchive the custom projects in the /Shared/Custom folder.

    • Fusion application users are auto-provisioned with BI Consumer role, which allows them to read and traverse the BI catalog folders. This access is for folder viewing and navigation only and doesn't give the user the privilege to view, open, edit and execute BI reports, for which the user has no security authorization. An enhancement is in development to restrict access to BI catalog folders such that a user will no longer be able to see and traverse BI catalog folders that he or she has no security authorization to access.

Invoke web service - BI agent or action

    Title:
Invoke web service - BI agent or action
    Summary:
Can we use Supplier Model Web service (SOAP) with "Invoke Web Service"
    Content:

    Hello guys!

I was trying to use invoke web service in an BI agent, but keep getting the error:
Action rerun ID 8ACE181585706CF2CB0AA9D84431733D, execution service ID ea681ade-e0e3-4318-a27b-9a79ec6e03ea:Error invoking web service SupplierService at endpoint https://******.fa.em2.oraclecloud.com:443/fscmService/SupplierServiceV2
Client received SOAP Fault from server : InvalidSecurityToken : The security token is not valid.

    Steps:

    1. Create an analysis

    2. Create an BI agent

    3. Add Invoke web service to BI agent

    4. Run BI agent returns error

I'm using SupplierServiceV2 web service call which is functional when used through SOAP UI or PLSQL call. Main difference is that with SOAP UI or PLSQL I'm sending credentials of user which can use SupplierServiceV2. This is what I can identify as a problem, but don't know how to resolve. In BI "Invoke web service" doesn't have an option to set credentials for a web service.

I did find some notes in the documentation that something has to be set in the security to browse web services, but we don't have access to web logic in SaaS sourcing and I'm not sure that browsing web services will help.

I'm attaching screentshot of my steps.

    Title:
OTBI Analysis: Is it possible to add a column that summarizes Invoice Amount by Supplier?
    Summary:
I'm building an analysis in OTBI and wanted to know if it's possible to have a calculated column that summarizes one of the other columns
    Content:

I'm building an OTBI Analysis using Payables Invoices - Transactions Real Time and I wanted to know if it's possible to create a calculated column that summarizes the invoice column to show total spend by that vendor for the period of the report.

For example, I have 3 columns:

    Supplier          Invoice Number       Invoice Amount

I want to have 4 columns

Supplier         Invoice Number        Invoice Amount        Total Spend by Supplier

There are some summary functions in OTBI but so far they just sum up the total but not by Suppler. I don't seem to be able to "Group By" or get anything to work in the calculated field to do this.

    Thank you,

    Brian

    BIP Report Parameters
    Summary:
    BIP Report Parameters
    Content:

    Hi -> BIP Report Parameters:
Can we make BIP report parameters in the required order if there are more parameters.
Ex: I have 20 parameters which I need to show them from 2 columns.

    Column1                 Column2              Column3
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Parameter1           Parameter2           Parameter3
    Parameter4           Parameter5           Parameter6
    Parameter7           Parameter8           Parameter9
    Parameter10          Parameter11          Parameter12
    Parameter13          Parameter14          Parameter15
    Parameter16          Parameter17          Parameter18
    Parameter19          Parameter20

When I am trying to keep in the above order the order is missing.
We have an option called Row Placement from which we can place a
parameter to the row but facing issues with column alignment.

Let me know if any one coma across this situation?

Incentive compensation - Recovery Amounts Dashboard

    Title:
Incentive compensation - Recovery Amounts Dashboard
    Summary:
19D release feature - Participant Recovery Amounts Dashboard & reports on Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area
    Content:

    Business Use Case:

    Attainment Ranking & Summary

Subject Areas used – IC Performance & Earning Summary

Who can use this report (Roles) - Incentive Compensation Manager/ Analyst/ Sales Representative

The below dashboard is a sample implementation that shows how the Performance and Earnings Summary Subject area can be used to report metrics related to payment recovery.

This report is designed for the benefit of an Incentive Compensation Manager and/or an Incentive Compensation Analyst to help them understand the advance amount recovered and also the advance to be recovered based on ITD and PTD calculations so that the payments can be adjusted as required.  Further, the Subject Area has been enhanced to support reporting of comp plan assignment types (Direct/Role-based) and also whether the participant’s incentive has been customized at a comp plan level.

All these enhancements are available from 19D onwards.

    Quarterly Recovery Amounts by Participant:

A WAVE view provides info about all the recovery amounts by the participants against the target by Quarter.

You can move to each quarter by the using slider to move between quarters.

Period wise Recovery Amounts by Participant:

A bar chart provides info about all the recovery amounts by the participants against the target by each period. You can move to each quarter by the using slider to move between quarters.

    How to deploy:

    1. Un-archive “Recovery Amounts Dashboard.catalog” files which have all the individual report, dashboard prompt, and the dashboard.
    2. Ensure that you un-archive it under /shared/custom folder to retain the references that the dashboard has to those individual files (else you may correct those again in the dashboard)

    Implementation notes:

    1. The data fetched is for the selected Year and Participant Name from the dashboard prompt.
    2. From R13 onwards, you are allowed to select multiple values to check the results .E.g. You can submit one year and all the period/participant vales to see how the responses compare on different parameters

Subtract resulting values of CASE function2
Topic posted May 3, 2019 by Stephanie Golly, tagged Analyses, OBIEE Answers, OTBI in General OBIEE public
    Title:
Subtract resulting values of CASE function
    Summary:
Need to subtract two values that are first derived using the CASE function
    Content:

I have created two measure columns that use a CASE function. I am trying to subtract the resulting values. I can get it to work when I subtract a constant such as the number 1 below:

(CASE  WHEN "Assessment Details"."Assessment Result Entry Start Date" = date '2019-05-01' AND "Assessment Result Details"."Activity Name" = 'Audit Test' THEN COUNT(DISTINCT "Control Details"."Control Name") END) - 1

But when I try to subtract the values that would result from two CASE statements nothing returns:

(CASE  WHEN "Assessment Details"."Assessment Result Entry Start Date" = date '2019-05-01' AND "Assessment Result Details"."Activity Name" = 'Audit Test' THEN COUNT(DISTINCT "Control Details"."Control Name") END) - (CASE  WHEN "Assessment Details"."Assessment Result Entry Start Date" = date '2019-05-03' AND "Assessment Result Details"."Activity Name" = 'Audit Test' THEN COUNT(DISTINCT "Control Details"."Control Name") END)

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Title:
"My Team" results don't include my entire organization
    Summary:
How do I return data for everyone in my organization?
    Content:

The predefined reports/tiles for "My Team*" only returns data for the level immediate below me, not sub-levels.  I.e. I'm a sales manager (or sales exec), in my organization hierarchy, I have two direct reports beneath me, and they in turn each have teams.  In my analysis, I want to return information, e.g. revenue, for my entire organization.  However, the filter by the predefined reports only return information for the two direct reports, and not the level below them.  The analysis uses this filter:

"User Organization Hierarchy Based Login is equal to / is in  @{NQ_SESSION.USER_PARTY_ID}"

How can I return data for everyone in my organization?

    Thank you!
