Budget Transfers and Forecast Adjustment Entries65.0

    Title:
Budget Transfers and Forecast Adjustment Entries
    Summary:
Best practices for budget transfers and forecast adjustments for clients with EPBCS/PBCS (Cloud) and PeopleSoft On-Premise Application
    Content:

We are currently using custom built forms and business rules (CONSOL, PROJECT, and POSITION BSO cubes) to process revised budget transfers and quarterly forecast adjustments within the EPBCS application and then write back that data to our PeopleSoft On-Premise Application via a staging table that generates general journals during the nightly batch into the BUDGETS ledger.

Our biggest challenge with this setup is dealing with multiple transactions to the same scenario in a particular year/period/version since only dimensions (our chartfields, i.e. department, account, fund, program, project, position, employee) are relevant as part of the unique combination in EPBCS (i.e. the cloud application does not appear to have been designed to handle journal line transaction detail).

Our workaround for this was to setup scenarios suffixed by a number (i.e. RBGT_PTC_DBT_01, RBGT_PTC_DBT_02, etc.), but since the scenario dimension has a maximum of 75 members, this is not a sustainable practice as in some cases we start to get pretty close to running out of scenarios.

We would like to get some ideas from other users as to how you are handling budget transfers (i.e. do you post these transactions in EPBCS / PBCS, how do you have the system configured to handle multiple journals to the same chartfield combination in a particular year/period, etc.).

Any information you can provide to help us improve our existing process would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Irina Feldesh

    ePBCS - Employee Attrition Planning
    Summary:
Looking into calculating Employee Attrition Finanical Impact and Headcount Change
    Content:

Has anyone done any attition planning in Workforce?  In Financial Statement cube?  Right now we have a headcount adjustment account and a salary adjustment account and the fixed cost per head and salary cost savings is calculated in a employee benefit savings account which would be net of employee backfills.  This works well for us however a few deparrtments have choosen to put some positve numbers in here or not put the heads in workforce as new hires.  When they do this it becomes a bit challenging explaining this to HR and getting them to understand the hiring plan...

Reaching out to see what others have done for employee attrition...

    Thanks!

Need Help! Building a Dynamic Calc Currency Translation in...25.0

Need Help! Building a Dynamic Calc Currency Translation in PBCS BSO
    Summary:
I'm trying to build a dynamic calc currency translation member that works on parent members
    Content:

I'm trying to build a dynamic calc Scenario member to do currency translation on the fly in order to simulate FX-Rate developments without doubling my data (or multiplying, the moment we start looking at several scenarios at the same time). While this is easy for LEV-0 members, I'm stuck at making this work for parents/nodes.

So I've got my Actual Scenario with the Entity Currency member (Currency is a dense dimension) which is the basis for my calculation. Theoretically, when I use this member in connection with a node (let's say "Group" -> approx. 40 LEV-0 members), it would have to collect, translate and sum up all LEV-0 members the selected POV. Performance aside, is that something that anybody can make work? Also, are there other/better approaches to FX-Rate simulation scenarios?

At hyperion root we have the description of each folder located there (IMG_2) but when we check at the application (PBCS) , those descriptions aren't there (IMG_1).

Is this same problem occurring for anyone else?

New video tutorial for Enterprise Planning Cloud
    Summary:
New video on loading and calculating incremental workforce data
    Content:

Hello. We are pleased to announce the availability of the following new video tutorial for Oracle Enterprise Planning Cloud:

Loading and Calculating Incremental Workforce Data using Data Management

Learn how to load and calculate incremental workforce data in Data Management. In Data Management, you can use the Incremental File Adapter to compare a source data file with a prior version of that file, identify new or changed records, and then load only those records. You can then set your data load rule to run a predefined Workforce rule that calculates the new and updated data.

View the Enterprise Planning Cloud video playlist here. The video will be available on the Help Center next week.

Planning and Consolidation development in EPM Enterprise Cloud
    Content:

Our client has subscribed to EPM Enterprise Cloud services. Now we want to start the development of planning and consolidation applications together. If we enable the planning we can not go back to the home page unless we do recreate services(Which we do not want to do) and from my services when i do the lauch services it is taking me to one service only (either planning or consolidation).

What to do in this case? Should we contact oracle if we want to drive the development of two applications (planning and consolidation) together?

    Thank You.

    Data Erased by Hierarchy Change?
    Summary:
After adding a roll up to existing members all level 0 data for those members was erased
    Content:

We added 3 new roll ups to our existing Finance and Facilities cost center hierarchies, 1) Corporate Finance, 2) Facilities - Location, and 3) Site Budgets.  However, after adding these roll up members, all level 0 data for the impacted cost centers (FN6111, FN6115, FN6182, FN6191, FACILITIES INPUT, FN7000, FN7001, FN7020, and FN7021) has been erased from all cubes, scenarios, and versions.  At first I thought it was just an aggregation issue with the new roll ups, but once I drilled in I saw that all data is gone, both from by ASO and BSO cube.

Request for best practices Integrating PPM with EPBCS
    Content:

    Hello-

Has anyone integrated PPM with EPBCS? What methods have you used to achieve full automation? We have reviewed the White Paper (Linked below) regarding this integration posted by Oracle in 2018, but we want to explore all our options and find the best way to automate this process.

Also curious to learn about any connectors that Oracle may have for this integration in the near future.
