Standard Currency Conversion in EPBCS ?

    Summary:
Standard Currency Currency Conversion in EPBCS?
    Content:

Hello, With EPBCS I believe there is only Simplified currency conversion available. But with this we loose the opportunity to load in "Local" currency with entities in the ROWS with different currency types. Now users have to select correct Local Currency several times and load in the form which is painful.

Has anyone overcome this issue with Standard Currency setting? Any other options available ?

Request for best practices Integrating PPM with EPBCS
    Content:

    Hello-

Has anyone integrated PPM with EPBCS? What methods have you used to achieve full automation? We have reviewed the White Paper (Linked below) regarding this integration posted by Oracle in 2018, but we want to explore all our options and find the best way to automate this process.

Also curious to learn about any connectors that Oracle may have for this integration in the near future.

Rounding without Truncating in Financial Reporting Studio...95.0

    Title:
Rounding without Truncating in Financial Reporting Studio (FRS)
    Summary:
How can we scale values without truncating them when running FR reports in Excel?
    Content:

We have multiple reports that are reported in millions with one decimal place. From a presentation standpoint this is fine, but when users run these reports in excel and attempt to calculate the displayed ratios using the scaled data they are slightly off (due to truncation vs. rounding). Is there any way to build an FR report that only displays one decimal but still contains the full value to support this desired functionality?

    Thanks,

DM Update 19.06, Producing Flat-File Extracts out of Cloud Data Management
    Summary:
As an EPM Administrator or Implementation Specialist, we have all had that moment when someone comes to us and asks for the dreaded extract out of an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)
    Content:

As an EPM Administrator or Implementation Specialist, we have all had that moment when someone comes to us and asks for the dreaded extract out of an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) application.  Depending on the system combination (Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Planning, etc.) and the file layout specifications, this can be tricky.  Layer in the concept of a Cloud application, and things have now gotten real!

In an on-premise installation of Financial Data Quality Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE), we could use scripting within a “custom application” to build an end-to-end approach for delivering a flat-file extract for third party consumption.  With the release of version 19.06, Oracle has further enhanced this concept and brought it to Cloud Data Management (CDM). The Cloud application now provides the ability to design and produce a text file for downstream consumption in Oracle Cloud products (PCMCS, EPBCS, FCCS).  WHOA!

    The Setup

I recently busted out the functionality and this is what I have discovered:  It’s crazy simple!

    1. Create a text file with your defined headers

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 2

    1. Create a target application and set your settings

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 3

    3.  Create an import format

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 4

    1. Create a Location & DLR

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 5

    1. Create the desired Maps
    2. Run the Data Load Rule

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 6

It is that simple!  CDM produces a file that looks similar to this:

Wayne Paffhausen - Weve Got You Covered - 7-26-19 Image 7

    It can PIVOT!?

As crazy as it sounds, it can even pivot the data!  I find this extremely helpful as it is a common request to have twelve months of data in column format.  CDM leverages the PIVOT command of the database for this process and creates the pivot file with ease and efficiency.

Has anyone used @CalcMgrExcelSUMPRODUCT in business rule or...5

    Title:
Has anyone used @CalcMgrExcelSUMPRODUCT in business rule or member formula?
    Content:

We have a requirement to calculate the sum product in the formula and it should be dynamic based on the month selected by user.

Following is the syntax documented by Oracle:

    @CalcMgrExcelSUMPRODUCT

    Purpose:

Returns the sum of the products of corresponding array components

    Syntax:

    Java Class: com.hyperion.calcmgr.common.excel.cdf.ExcelMathFunctions.SUMPRODUCT(double[],double[])

    CDF Spec: @CalcMgrExcelSUMPRODUCT(values1, values2)

I have applied the same in the member formula as below:

    @CalcMgrExcelSUMPRODUCT(@XRANGE("AKPI_DayMonth"->"JAN","AKPI_DayMonth"->"DEC"),@XRANGE("AKPI_TechAvailPctPower"->"Jan","AKPI_TechAvailPctPower"->"Dec"));

Currently I am trying to get output using the static formula but this is not giving any result in the system.

Any help on this will be great.

    Thank You.

    Jash Joshi

    What's New in 19.08?35.0

    Title:
    What's New in 19.08?
    Summary:
    Here we go again...
    Content:

Here we are as another month approaches with a new release.  I’m sure you’ve already read the What’s New for August update but here’s my twist:

    1. Once again, the video team keeps pumping out the (YouTube) hits.  There are 2 new videos this month.  The first has Hari Sankar, Group Vice President of Product Management, explaining what we mean by EPM Cloud as a suite in conjunction with our new product offering starting this past June.  The second video provides an overview of the EPM Automate Replay command to simulate your application activities in a test environment under heavy load for you to test performance and ensure these monthly patch updates don’t cause any regressions in your application.  Both are worth watching and I’m not just saying that because Hari is my Group VP… ;-)
    1. There is a new version of EPM Automate, which contains updates to the “recreate” command.  I suppose I’m partially to blame for this enhancement as I struggled to update loaner environments for our partner training to quickly set up for consecutive weeks of training and I had to manually delete all classroom import files from each instance manually to reset set for the next group of victims, err… I mean trainees.  So, our wonderful developers added an optional “removeAll” parameter, which when set to “true,” removes all user created snapshots as well as the content of the Inbox and Outbox.  This is a great feature when sharing an environment with different groups and you want to ensure no sensitive or proprietary data remains on the environment.
    1. The Calc Manager team keeps churning out the enhancements for ASO functionality with four new ASO functions:  @ILSIBLINGS, @IRSIBLINGS, @LSIBLINGS, and @RSIBLINGS.  Obviously, at least to the BSO calc writing world, we’ve had these in BSO cubes forever but they are now available for ASO cubes, too.  Nerd on!
    1. A new server setting in Financial Reporting Web Studio, Related Content URL Launch Mode, defines the type of request made for related content URLs.  The default launch method is HTTP post.  In scenarios where related content URLs do not support a post request, change the server setting to HTTP get.  I hate when related content does not support a post request.  How about you?
    1. In our new EPM Enterprise Cloud Planning Business Process, the Custom Business Process Type now only supports the simplified multi-currency solution.   The old, native multi-currency is no longer available, which is a good thing.  Most everyone skipped that option and created a version of the simplified multi-currency solution, so now we only support what everyone is already doing.
    1. With a view to assisting customers troubleshoot issues related to application performance, a new chapter titled "Troubleshooting Application-Specific Issues" has been added to Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.  The initial installment of this document covers information on optimizing slow business rules identified in the Activity Report.

    Upcoming Changes

    1. In the September 2019 (i.e. 19.09) release, we will add a query governor that limits all queries to a maximum of 15 minutes execution time.  The query governor will terminate queries that exceed 15 minutes because, let’s be honest, that seems like a horrible query that is being fired off hogging resources that could be used for better things.  So excessive loads created unintentionally by running ad hoc queries that take a very long time to complete will be terminated to avoid hosing everyone else on the system.  Before you jump down my throat, if you have a valid query that takes more than 15 minutes to complete (really?), log a Support Request with  your use case and business justification and we’ll review, contemplate, (maybe say you’re insane), and adjust, if necessary.
    1. Currently, the predefined role names displayed in the Access Control screens of EPM Cloud environments prefix the instance name to the role name in INSTANCE_NAME ROLE_NAME format. They are also stored in this format in the snapshots, making it difficult to migrate snapshots from one instance to another.

To facilitate the migration of security across EPM Cloud environments, Oracle plans to rename predefined role names displayed within EPM Cloud applications by removing the instance name prefix. For example, if the instance name is Planning1, predefined role names are Planning1 Service Administrator, Planning1 Power User, Planning1 User and Planning1 Viewer. The new role names will be Service Administrator, Power User, User, and Viewer.

NOTE:  This change does not affect how the role names are displayed in the MyServices customer portal.

This change will affect you if you use the predefined roles for managing application-level provisioning and access to artifacts; you will need to reassign such assignments using the updated role name after the roles are renamed. This change makes it easy to migrate EPM Cloud artifacts across environments.

Additionally, all predefined role names; Domain Administrator, Service Administrator, Power User, User, and Viewer will be treated as EPM Cloud keywords, which should not be used in the name of any custom artifacts that you create; for example, as a group name in Access Control. If you have any group with these keywords, rename them before this change comes into effect.

This change is being implemented to address customer feedback. If you have any concerns about this change, please contact Oracle Support.

    1. In a future update, there will be a revised interface with enhanced navigation and a new them called Sky Blue.  The revised interface retains existing functionality and enhances your experience with a more modern look and feel and responsive design.  The Welcome Panel and the Global Header readjust after resizing, which means less scrolling (Yay!).  An updated Welcome Panel features Announcements and Notifications.  Arrows are available on the Home Page to help you navigate easily between the Springboard and infolet dashboard pages.  A bigger Navigator Menu has improved usability, more themes for customization are included, and a bigger work area has more space to maneuver and provide better visibility.  The interface is also more consistent with other Oracle products, such as Fusion Applications.  After the interface is release, all new customers will use the new lighter-colored Sky Blue theme, and existing customers will keep their current theme.  You can switch themes using Tools\Appearance.
    1. One of these days, we’re really going to get rid of the Classic Dimension Editor, I promise.  However, I’m working hard to ensure the Simplified Dimension Editor meets all your expectations before we remove the Classic Dimension editor.  I still need your help to log Support Requests with bugs or enhancement requests for the Simplified Dimension Editor to ensure it fully meets your needs and provides a seamless transition.  Have Support log bugs with “SUIDE” in the title.

Okay, so not the heaviest of months for updates but it is summertime in the northern hemisphere and some of us are enjoying some time off after our year-end rush, KScope (have you signed up for KScope20 in my home town yet?  Be sure to budget for this extraordinary event.), new pricing/product offerings, etc. so stay tuned for more enhancements as we go forward.  Maybe we’ll see some of you at Oracle Open World in September in San Francisco.

    Happy Planning!

Converting on premise BSO cube to PBCS ASO4

    Title:
Converting on premise BSO cube to PBCS ASO
    Content:

    Hi All,

I have a requirement to convert the on-premise BSO cube to the PBCS ASO cube. On-premise BSO cube is mainly used by the client's users as a reporting cube. It has dimensions 11 dimensions, account dimension has around 140 member formulas and few calculation scripts. Member formulas has functions like @ISMBR, @Relative and @SUM etc.

Account and Entity dimension has lot of members as Ignore and in ASO if you want to use consolidation operator as ignore than you have to make parents as a label only, this affects the reporting at the parent level.

I would like to know, whether we should go for the ASO cube conversion or not? and if we should go for it? what are the things that we should keep in mind while converting BSO to ASO?

    Thank You.

    Regards,

    Jash Joshi

Is it possible to consolidate in PBCS or EPBCS?
    Content:

    Hello everyone,

The other day I was asked if is possible to consolidate in PBCS or EPBCS, I have been disconnected from PBCS since 2017, and I have not used PBCS in the past for that purpose.

I have been looking in Oracle web and I read about Strategic Modelling, but I am not sure if that new module could be my answer.

I would love to hear if someone have created a way of consolidate in PBCS or EPBCS. If not, what would you advise me to propose along PBCS in that future project? HFM or maybe another tool?

    Thank you
