    Expenditure Corrections (Cost Transfers)
    Content:

The University of Wyoming is have major issues with Expenditure Corrections/Cost Transfers.  We have problems is someone mistypes a date or the original expenditure happened in FY18 and the corrections is happening in FY19 (after FY18 is closed) by the system wants FY18 to be opened when non-sponsored project funds are in play...does anyone else have these issues? How do you process expenditure corrections...any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

    Thanks - Kim

Inventory Miscellaenous Cost is not generating Asset Lines12

    Title:
Inventory Miscellaenous Cost is not generating Asset Lines
    Summary:
AP Invoice, Exp Reports and Manual Misc Cost are creating Asset Lines. But Inventory Misc Cost is not generating.
    Content:

PA period open for Mar, Apr and May. FA period open for Apr

2 expenditures are as below -

    1. AP Invoice - 31st March, 2019 - Capitalized

    2. Inventory Misc Cost - 30 Apr 2019 - Asset line not generated

Expenditure is capitalizable, accounted, UPPD run, asset assigned at project level, marked to As Built, DPIS = 30-Apr-2019, no adjustment recorded, no line splitting.

All setups starting from type to template to source in place.

Therefore, can you guess what can be the additional checks we might be missing. Has anyone faced this before?

Capture Group Assets from FA in Oracle PPM

    Title:
Capture Group Assets from FA in Oracle PPM
    Content:

    Hi,

Scenario: While creating an asset in Oracle PPM, I am not able to capture a Group Asset created in FA in the "Parent Assets" field in the Edit Asset Details page. A group asset doesn't come up in the LOV for parent assets.

Even after transferring a PPM asset to FA, The Asset type cannot be changed to group asset.

I am looking for a confirmation on the following :

    1. Is the product designed such that a group asset should not appear in the list of values for parent asset in PPM

    2. Is there any other way, by which a group asset information can be captures on a PPM Asset.

    Looking forward to your comments

    Thanks,

    Aastha

Can we create Maintenance Work orders for Projects2

Can we create Maintenance Work orders for Projects
    Content:

    Hi,

I am trying to explore the functionality of creating Maintenance work orders for Projects.

I have a few questions for the same:

    1. Is it possible to create work orders and associate them with Project Information
    2. Also, how the cost of the work order will get transferred to Oracle Projects
    3. The time charged by Resource against any work order will go to Projects and then to OTL or it will directly go to OTL?
    4. Please suggest how we can achieve the requirement of creating work orders against the project and billing the same.

    Thanks

SLA rule to combine capital and non-capital cost10
Topic posted April 23, 2019 by Chris Van de Graaf, tagged Capital Projects, Project Costing, Project Management in Project Management public
    Title:
SLA rule to combine capital and non-capital cost
    Summary:
Client has both capital and no capital (billable/expense) cost on a capital project. I need to create a SLA rule to combine this. Capital cost are based on Task DFF and non capital cost are in mapping
    Content:

Client has capital cost and non capital cost on a capital project. As I can't assign separate rule for capital cost and other cost, I have to combine my accounting logic in a single account rule. Capital cost are derived from a Task DFF. In the task DFF I maintain the asset category which in a separate value set is mapped to a GL account (in the description). For non capital cost I use a mapping set, mapping the expenditure type to the GL account. For both cost types (capital and non-capital) I can create separate account rules, but when I try to combine the two rules into a single (third) rule, I am not able to select the rule for the capital cost I assume that's because the rule type for the capital cost account is Value set. For the non capital cost the rule type is segment. As both rule types are different I assume I can't combine these account rules into another (third) rule.

Any ideas how to resolve the issue to combine capital and non-capital cost into a single account rule..

HCM & PPM with Organizational Trees1

HCM & PPM with Organizational Trees
    Content:

Question - we are getting to go live with HCM in a few months. Since we haven't been live, with HCM yet, we've maintained an org tree in PPM. I found some documentation (PJF: Does the Organization Tree Used in PPM Need to be the Same as that Used in HCM? (Doc ID 2340513.1) and it states PPM/PFM uses the HCM tree...does that mean I will not have to make any org move/changes in PPM...that it will default to the HCM tree?

Fusion project cost import process ignores values passed via...3

Fusion project cost import process ignores values passed via DFFs
    Summary:
Fusion project cost import process ignores values passed via DFFs
    Content:

    Hi All

We bring monthly consumption costs via a HUB which creates a projects cost file and creates records in the project cost transaction interface. We then run the project cost import process to create project expenditure items. Various data sets are derived using complex business rules to manufacture project cost data import file in the HUB.  Currently we are in the process of simplifying some part of this process by effectively by passing values directly via DFF's.

I have noticed, Fusion project cost import process doesn't validate DFF values [in the value set] when they are passed via the cost interface table and the importing ignores it all. However validations for these DFF values [in the value set] are respected when creating an expenditure item directly in Fusion.

Have you also come across this issue? How did you overcome these value set validation issues?

Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Raj

There is no search capability in the Manage Organisation Trees screen, so it is difficult to check if Organisation are in the organisation tree.

Has anyone figured out a quick way to figure out, even a useful sql query if you can share?

Add Work Type Capitalizable functionality in PFM Cloud1

Best method to set Capitalizable indicator on expenditure items using Work Types
    Content:

In EBS Project Costing, Work Type have a Capitalizable flag to be used to update expenditure items.

Capitalizable flag does not exist on Work Types in Fusion/Cloud PPM.

Anybody have a good idea on how to try to mimic the work type Capitalizable function in Cloud PFM?

    HCM feeds/areas into PPM1

    Title:
    HCM feeds/areas into PPM
    Content:

We are looking at the following areas that says they will flow into PPM:

    Jobs/positions, hierarchies, locations & competancies

As I know PPM (Awards/Contracts/Projects) now, I can't figure out how this information would be used in PPM and then know how to test it.

If we don't need theses areas, can they be turned off. We did experience (for p-cards only) that if an assignment change occurred for an individual...any p-card charges prior to the change were not longer recognized as valid even though that person didn't have a break in service...just an assignment change. UW is not using resource management for personnel.
