Our client wanted to know if they can use CPQ instead of Order Management Cloud. Could you please let me know if we can use CPQ instead of OM.
1) How Pricing will work in this scenario as OM cloud has pricing administration
2) Can we book orders in CPQ and directly interface it to AR for invoices
3) Also, what is the benefit of CPQ over OM cloud
Thanks

CPQ PM here - I was asked to weigh in on this.
1. CPQ can also do pricing administration. The main question here is if other systems also need to access the pricing. If yes, and they are fusion systems - it may be worthwhile to setup pricing in OM and call it via API from CPQ. If no, or if the other systems are not Fusion apps - you may not need pricing in OM at all, you could just administer in CPQ.
2. Yes, there is a standard integration for this. There is also an integration between CPQ/AR/Subscription Cloud if needed.
3. This is a very nuanced question. Both applications have their functions, and while there is some overlap - there are also clear definitions. Most basically, CPQ is a front office application. That is, the expected user is a sales person (direct, indirect, or channel partner distributor). As such, the application is tuned towards allowing a non-technical user to build orders without needing at access ERP or backoffice systems. This includes all levels of complexities of order and configurations. The OM system is more geared towards backoffice operations and is much better equipped to deal with such use cases as: fulfillment, orchestration, Supply chain management, etc.

Hi David,
Thanks for such a detailed response.
Could you please let me know if we implement pricing in CPQ and will not have a separate pricing administration module as such (as we will not implement OM) than in that case can we make use of Pricing setup in CPQ for other Oracle ERP cloud modules.
Also, please let me know what are the other possible ERP cloud modules which would be using Pricing other than OM.
Thanks
