    Title:
Can the duration be changed manually for each activity?
    Summary:
Changing the duration of an activity
    Content:

    Hello,

I have an activity whose default duration is 1hr. However, as a resource, I want to be able to manually change the duration to the number of hours I will require to perform the activity. I want to be able to manually change the start time and end time as well.

I tried changing the duration but without any success.

Can this be achieved in OFSC?

    Thanks.

      Hi Noorshabah,

In OFSC we have two types of activities related to the duration. The selector is found under Configuration / Activity Types / "Calculate activity duration using statistics" checkbox.
      - If it's checked, then no manual duration override is possible, but the default / initial duration will be used (from "Default Duration" field) if there isn't enough statistical values collected by the system.
      - If not checked, then the "Default Duration" will be used if no different duration data given by activity creation from API.

      Hello Zsolt,

Thanks for your quick response. However, my activity type is a multi-day one and the option 'Çalculate activity duration using statistics' is disabled for multi-day activities.

      Thanks for your help.

I don't have much experience with Multi-Day activities, but I try to help.
When you create an activity with this type, then you have two additional fields to specify "Minimum duration of a single element" and "Maximum total duration of segments created for a particular day". Over that, you can specify which duration is the activity requires altogether. For an example the technician has 2 hours free time for today, you put a 6 hour long multi-day activity on his time line, then he will get a 2 hours segment for today and a 4 hours long for tomorrow. So we can say, yes the duration is editable. If you asking how to limit today's segment, then the answer is A) fill the technician with other jobs first and leave only that time period free which you plan to fill with the multi-day activity; B) limit the duration with "Maximum total..." field value.
