Best Practices for Creating Custom Roles for Integration User
    Content:

    Hi All,

I am looking for some inputs around the best practice to create custom roles (with specific Privileges to access Web / REST Services) for the integration user account created in Oracle ERP Cloud.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Nagesh.

We needed a user account that can process all Inventory transactions via Webservice.  Hence we created a custom role with all the required privileges, Data policies (similar to what inventory manager role has) and assigned to user account.  Based on the Webservice that you want to use, please make sure you have the appropriate data policies mapped as well.

Thanks for the prompt response Gopinath.

If a user account is supposed to interact with different modules, i assume we need to create a custom role for each module.

Would you be able to share any references which can help to understand how this can be done.

        Thanks,

        Nagesh.

      Hi Nagesh,

It will depend on what are the integrations are invoked by this user. Start with the following roles

      1.Integration Specialist

      2.Financial Integration Specialist

      3.Supply Chain Integration Specialist

      4Human Capital Management Integration Specialist

If this user is submitting ESS jobs then grant "ESS Monitor Role' (Custom role refer to Oracle support)

      Thanks,

      Magesh

        Hi Magesh,

I could see that the predefined XXXX integration specialist roles have a lot of privileges which are not required for our integration user.

Is it ok if we create a custom role by from the standard role and remove out the additional privileges which are not required.

Is there any document available which provides guidelines on how to create these custom roles for integration users?

        Thanks,

        Nagesh.

          Hi Nagesh,

It is okay to create custom role out of standard role and remove extra privileges. But it might need lot of testing to make sure all the integrations tasks are complete.

As for as I know no documentation or guideline exists.

          Thanks,
