How to setup resource overhead cost for Maintenance work orders in Oracle Maintenance Cost

How to setup resource overhead cost for Maintenance work orders in Oracle Maintenance Cost
    Content:

    Hi,

Our users are looking for a solution which will be used to calculate the resource overhead in addition to the time charged by resource against the maintenance work order.

The overheads are like Benefits = 18%* Resource Cost, then other additional percentage calculation. Also, they want to account the expenses which are not in percentage, for example, mileage expense charges(Gas used to travel to different locations for performing maintenance activity).

Please let me know how can we implement all the above scenarios using resource rate and overhead rate setups?

Also, when I am trying to set up the Overhead cost, I am not able to find the resource rate as a parameter on top of which I can calculate the percentage which will get further added to the total resource cost.

    Thanks

    Ekansh

    Hi Ekansh,

Currently in cloud, we don't have the ability to enter % overhead for resources. This is in our roadmap though, so I would request you to please log an ER with your usecase so that we can take that into consideration while working on the solution approach.

Having said that, there is a workaround - when you enter resource rates using the Create Resource Rate UI, you can select Resource and Overhead cost elements. You can calculate the overhead in $ based on % outside of the cloud and enter the overheads using the Resource Rate ADFDi.

A current customer has created a custom solution via which an ESS job calculates the overhead costs of materials in the correct format that can further be used to load costs into the cloud. I will be happy to share their steps if you are interested, though keep in mind that their solution is catered towards overhead costs for materials.

    Regards,

    Sritama

        Hi Sritama,

Thanks for your response and answer. Even I was thinking to calculate the overhead in $ based on % outside of the cloud and enter the overheads using the Resource Rate ADFDi.

I would like to know the custom solution for calculation of overhead costs of material as it may help me to think about the custom solution for calculation of overhead cost for resources,

        Thanks

        Ekansh

      Hi Ekansh,

I am attaching the documents that will give you an overview of the custom solution.

      Hope this helps.
