    Title:
Problem in downloading CP files locally
    Content:

    Hi,

We were trying to download CP files of http://bav8.custhelp.com/ site locally but unable to do so.

As per the step mentioned in the CP document:

    1) The User (n88711) has given the access to 'Transient Login, CP Site Administration and WebDAV' in the profile.

    2) We have installed the 'Adobe Dreamweaver Extension' from the bav8 interface application button successfully.

    3) Next we downloaded the Rightnow.mxp file on Desktop and created the Dreamweaver Site using Dreamweaver Application.

    4) After that we were unable to create connection with WebDAV under 'My Network Places'. After entering the 'Internet or network address', it gives the following two options.

Option 1 : When we enter Internet address as http://bav8.custhelp.com:80/dav/ or https://bav8.custhelp.com:80/dav/ or https://bav8.custhelp.com/dav, it gives an error which is attached in the screenshot (Error message.jpg) below and after that we will not able to proceed.

Option 2 : When we enter Internet address as http://bav8.custhelp.com/dav/, it gives the option to enter RightNow CRM Login/password.

But it is not accepting the Login details.

Could you please check and advise the reason of this problem.

    Regards

      Charu,

Based on your screenshot, it's asking you to point it to the MS Office .msi file or installer disc - Your local IT admin should be able to provide this to you.

Also, you can use other 3rd party WebDAV clients and not just the one included with Windows. One in particular is "NetDrive". You can just google for it and find different versions and terms of use.

      Charu,

This post contains a document that describes the trouble we've had with Windows as a WebDAV client and directions to use the best solution that we've found.

In your specific case, I'm guessing the following sequence is occurring:

      1. Windows tries to authenticate
      2. It fails for the various reasons chronicled in the aforementioned document
      3. Microsoft Office's WebDAV client takes over trying to connect to the server
      4. Microsoft Office is partially installed on your system.  Some key WebDAV client component is missing.  Setup automatically runs to install that missing piece.
      5. The dialog you provided a screenshot of appears.
Please let us know if you have trouble making NetDrive or WebDrive work.

      Thank you,

      Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have contacted my local DLA to install MS Office .msi file and that problem is resolved now.

But i am still not able to download and edit the files

      Following steps i had performed

      Interface name

      http://bav8.custhelp.com

      1) The User has given the access to 'Transient Login, CP Site Administration and WebDAV' in the profile.

      2) We have installed the 'Adobe Dreamweaver Extension' from the bav8 interface application button successfully.

      3) Next we downloaded the Rightnow.mxp file on Desktop and created the Dreamweaver Site using Dreamweaver Application.

      4) Created WebDAV connection in My Network space

      5) When we try to map the WebDAV connection to Dreamweaver Site in the Site>Manage Sites>Advanced tab>Remote Info, it gives the following error message.

I have the admin rights on my system but still not able to do.

Could you please advise the cause of this problem.

I have followed the steps which are mentioned in the Customer Portal guide. Please confirm whether i am going into right direction.

      Many thanks for the help.

      Charu,

What you experienced is the behavior we've come to expect from the Microsoft Office WebDAV client. It doesn't appear to support exposing the WebDAV server as a true file system object. I refer you to the document containing our discoveries on this matter. I recommend NetDrive and WebDAV as better solutions than any of Microsoft's quirky, and frankly buggy, clients.
