    Title:
Difficulty Exporting Fusion Allocation Rules TEST to PROD
    Summary:
export/import syntax different in TEST environment vs. PROD environment?
    Content:

We have created new (and modified existing) Fusion allocation rules in EPM System Workspace, Fusion Edition in our TEST environment.  After completion of testing we want to export these rules from TEST to XML file and then import into PROD environment.

The difficulty we are having is that the TEST environment seems to be exporting with different syntax than PROD.  When we export rule from TEST we see the ledger value is "Ledger-HS Primary Ledger" in the XML file.  (we only have the one ledger)  When we export rules from PROD we see "HS Primary Ledger" as ledger value in the XML file.  When we import into PROD the TEST's exported XML it does not properly recognize the member value (validation fails on "Ledger-HS Primary Ledger".)

Another example is our 10th segment "HS Intercompany" which behaves in a similar way.

TEST exports "10-000,All HS Intercompany Values".  PROD exports "000" (just the segment value) so we are reasoning that it expects the same.  PROD improperly imports the entire string "10-000,All HS Intercompany Values" from the TEST XML as the member value.

Screenshot and attachments provided for further illustration.  Can anyone assist with this issue?  We have a lot of new and modified rules we were planning on exporting/importing.  Thanks, Wendy

You definitely need to use FSM services to do rule migration from Test to Prod.

In above case, you first need run Ledger dimension and re-publish all the tree versions under all the segments so that aliases are updated on the cube. Then export xmls on both the environments which should have same format then.

    Thanks,

Hi Abhijit, thank you for your reply.  Can you clarify what you mean by "run Ledger dimension?"  Thanks, Wendy

Sorry! Ledger dimension maintenance process - "Create Ledger Dimension Members".
