    Title:
Is there a File-Based Data Import (FBDI) for Item Orgs and Inventory Orgs or related facility to do mass upload?
    Summary:
We are looking for a file-based data import (fbdi) template for mass creation of item organizations and inventory organizations.
    Content:

We are looking for a file-based data import (fbdi) template for mass creation of item organizations and inventory organizations. We are going to migrate more than a hundred and we hope there is a facility where we could create these records efficiently into a new instance and migrate into succeeding environments.

We have check this site https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/supply-chain-management/r13-update18a/oefsc/toc.htm but we are not to find an FBDI for Item Organization and Inventory Organizations. Thanks.

      This functionality is not available.

Yes, the FBDI for Item/Inventory Orgs is not available but you can use one of the below options:

Option #1.1: Using Implementation Project Configuration Export/Import - Source to Target with no changes

      1. Setup an implementation project in Setup & Maintenance.
      2. Using Manage Configuration Packages in Source Instance download the setup data. This generates a .zip file.
      3. Using Manage Configuration Packages in Target Instance upload the .zip file & then Import Setup Data.

Option #1.2: Using Implementation Project Configuration Export/Import - Changes before Target Instance

If you have not setup all inventory orgs in Source Instance, you can edit XML file generated from Step 2 to add XML tags for other Inventory Orgs before Step 3 & then re-zip the file.

      Option #2:Using Manage Inventory Organizations Task's Export/Import

      1. Under Setup & Maintenance, navigate to Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering -> Facilities Functional Area -> Manage Inventory Organizations task -> Actions -> Export to CSV file.
      2. This generates a .zip file. Download it.
      3. Add details of al inventory organizations and then re-zip the file.
      4. In the Target Instance, under Setup & Maintenance, navigate to Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering -> Facilities Functional Area -> Manage Inventory Organizations task -> Actions -> Import to CSV file.
      5. Choose the .zip file generated from Step 3.

Both options have files generated for Item Organizations as well but took care of it manually due to low no.of Item Orgs. I tried all options mentioned above and landed on Option #2 to upload ~80 Inv Orgs.

      Thanks,

      Shabbeer

Thank you Shabbeer for your inputs. I will try the provided options. Have you tried this to other too where there are no available FBDIs... ie. Subinventories and Locations.

        Regards,

        Ben

Yes Ben, I have tried for other setups as well. For example, we are using it to upload ~200 Carriers and corresponding Ship Methods & Org Associations.

There are certain setups which are not supported with this approach as well and needs to be taken care with Data Loader or Manual Setups. Example: Procurement Agents/Buyers

          Thanks,

          Shabbeer

I am trying to follow on Option #2 and work on exporting setup data for Inventory Organizations.

            1. Under Setup & Maintenance, navigate to Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering -> Facilities Functional Area -> Manage Inventory Organizations task -> Actions -> Export to CSV file.

Can you confirm which Action button it is? I can see an Action button with Export > Create New Export function. With this, it result to an Export Offering Setup Data with a lot of business objects. It appears to be for the entire offering.

Can you show steps using screenshots. Thanks.

            Regards,
            Ben

Is there anything I need to be aware of? I tried exporting the Inventory Organizations and modified the csv file for it. Added a new value and removed old data. Re-zip the filed and use the import on Manage Inventory Organizations. However, there is an error. Task Manage Inventory Organizations: The file you chose to upload is not in CSV format. Check or select a different file.

Hello - here is also an Oracle Support doc on this, with the example of Subinventories: Fusion Inv: Using Functional Setup Manager Export/Import to Import Sub-Inventories, Locators for a Sub-Inventory, and add Items to a Sub-Inventory. (Doc ID 2203883.1)

Hi Ben: I see that you are uploading CSV file directly as per screenshot. Please zip the CSV file and then select the ZIP file. Attached a sample image of ZIP fiel with CSV files included.

      Thanks,

      Shabbeer

        Hi Shabbeer,

On the Inventory Organization, is it possible to import additional inventory organization? I am trying to load new data which I have entered in the csv file - INV_ORGANIZATION_PARAMETER.

I have attached the log file. The rest of the objects in the package are having the status of being already processed but they are actually empty.

        Best regards,

        Ben

Hi Ben: Yes, it is possible to import additional inventory orgs which are not setup in Source Instance. Looks like EffectiveEndDate column is missing value for your data. We gave 12/31/4712 for our inventory organizations. Please populate that and try to import again.

          Thanks,

          Shabbeer
