Behind the ‘Wow’ of Oracle's Smart Office

What would a smart office, which leverages today's emerging technology and works in the Oracle Applications Cloud, look like right now?

AppsLab, the OAUX emerging technologies team, is building a permanent smart office demo at Oracle headquarters. And it's so cool. We'll be showing the Smart Office demo during Oracle OpenWorld 2016, both in San Francisco and at Oracle headquarters in our usability labs, but you can get a preview now at the emerging technology research behind the gadgets that make it go in this Voice of User Experience post: "Building a "smart office" with today's emerging technology.”

Noel Portugal, from the AppsLab, also writes about what you can see if you catch the Smart Office demo right now in “The Future of Work: What does a Smart Office look like today?” In the image below, an employee is walking into Oracle's version of a smart office. The entire office (including the computer) is booting up by itself and displaying that person's preferences in lighting, temperature, dashboard, and showing top tasks for the day. The person is wearing a badge or smartwatch that is read at the door, which is what kicks off the day and triggers office and computer settings.
