    Title:
    Video Chat - Browser Compatibility
    Content:

Need some help from service cloud experts on this forum.

We are trying to test Video Chat by using an an opensource WebRTC framework. However when trying to launch Video Chat in IE (browser control from agent chat window or as a pop-up), it doesnt work. It only works Chrome and Firefox if launched on a separate browser.

What are the list of officially supported browsers for Oracle Service Cloud?

Has anyone tried testing video chat with Oracle Service Cloud. I understand that IE has some limitations w.r.t. Voice and Video. At the same time i know that some oracle partners have solutions for video chat. Do they also require to use other browsers like Chrome or are there any options to make this work from IE?

    Please advise. Thanks

    Hi Sandeep!

The list of Oracle Service Cloud supported browsers for Customer Portal is here: https://cx.rightnow.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8459

But you hit the nail on the head - it's the WebRTC standard that is not supported by all browsers. Popular browsers like Chrome, Opera and Firefox support WebRTC natively, while others, like Safari and IE, can be supported through plug-ins. Microsoft is committed to supporting WebRTC in Edge for Windows 10.

One of the advantages of working with one of our partners or, in the future, utilizing the native Video Chat capability we are currently building, is that the underlying technology is based on Oracle's WebRTC Session Controller, which supports a broad selection of non-WebRTC clients, systems and interfaces to ensure optimal reliability and interoperability.

      Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your response. Are there any Plugins which you can recommend for IE to enable WebRTC capabilities?

Also, are there any case studies or have any customers implemented Video Chat on IE using plugins?

      Appreciate your response.

      Thanks,
      Sandeep
