    Unique key of supplier
    Summary:
    Unique key of supplier
    Content:

I have a question for unique key of supplier. I want to create "HP" as a supplier name and the country is "US" for US legal entity. Later when we rollout to "UK"  and we need to create another "HP" supplier with country "UK" and system prompt up an error message.

Would anyone share with me for such case?

      Hi Amy,

You are right, duplicate supplier names are not allowed. You need to enter different names say 'HP US' and 'HP UK' / 'HP (US)' and 'HP (UK)'

      Thanks,

      Piyush

        Piyush,

How do you recommend accommodating two (2) or more suppliers who have same (non-unique) name, but different taxpayer IDs and represent distinct suppliers?

        Example:

ACME Corporation, a Texas Corporation, FEIN 62-1111111

ACME Corporation, a Delaware Corporation, FEIN 62-123456

This is a common-place issue for us as we have many individual / sole-proprietor suppliers and payees, and forcing the name to be unique creates problem in mass upload of new suppliers, integrations, and self-service registration. The supplier number is certainly a unique identifier and seems like it would be sufficient for disambiguation when the proper name for each supplier is properly the same. We are investigating integration with taxpayer ID solutions like TINCheck, and it matches name to taxpayer ID - manipulating the supplier name to avoid duplication proposes false-positive match errors.
