    Title:
    Audio Alert on Reports (Exceptions)
    Content:

    Hi,

Is it possible to have an exception give an audio alert? In my case, I was asked if we can provide one for a report we use for Live Chat Monitoring.

Basically, we would like the report to make a sound when an exception is met (i.e. when a chat is waiting for a specific time).

I hoped this would be possible through an Exception, but there is only a visual alert (flag, color...) possible as far as I can see.

Anyone came across similar requirement and has a solution?

    Many Thanks

    Pavol

    Hi Pavol.

This is not a standard function in the system.
The only way I can think of is that you create an Alert for the report that sends the report to a mailbox on the monitoring computer and specify a sound file for that particular mailbox but this will not be realtime.

See this article for more information:
What is an alert when scheduling a report subscription and when should I use one?

Thanks Sebastiaan, that is indeed an ingenious workaround!

I guess it would also be do-able through a custom add-in, but unless someone wants to share their work I am afraid that it is beyond my expertise for now :)

Am I correct assuming that the minimum refresh rate here would be 15 mins even for the Alert? As that is what I can see in the schedule.

I must say I have never used Alerts myself but that would seem like a lot.
You would think this would be at once.

Let me see if I can find some more details on this...

I was unable to find any details about the time.
I assume you have the report on the right data source? (operational database)

I am using the Operational Database. Basically when you setup the alert, you need to setup a schedule too and that can only be done in 15 min increments.

I take this is for the actual Alert message that goes out, not how often the alert is checking whether the condition was met.

I have added a comment to this idea in the lab.

I think being able to specify a sound file in report exceptions could also be very good to have as it allows for different types of agent/supervisor alerts which could even be great for service desks that work with large monitors showing live data reports for the entire department.

Feel free voting for the idea and adding more comments :-)
