    Title:
Update 18C - Can the defaults be changed in Invoice Pages?
    Summary:
With the change to Invoice Pages, the invoice lines are collapsed by default when in Edit mode. Can this be changed?
    Content:

With the change to Invoice Pages, the invoice lines are collapsed by default when in Edit mode.  Can this be changed?  We would like the lines to be expanded when in Edit mode.  By having the default set to collapse the lines, it takes yet another click to open the lines for review and editing in order to correct holds, etc.

    Is this possible?

    Version:
    R13 18C

I didn't see that as an option in the Release document.  Also for other UI changes where the Invoice Status summary panel on teh right side has been moved as a popup under the Invoice Status link next to Actions Icon.

I did not see that as an option either - but needed to confirm that there wasn't something I was missing as this is a significant change that has a negative impact on our users.

We agree that we would like the lines to be auto expanded when you go in to edit an invoice. I can understand the status summary being moved to give more space, however I am not sure why the lines area would be minimized as default.

Im currently trying to make this using personalization.
Will create also SR to confirm this functionality.

But I also agree that it should be otherway round: Lines Visible and Taxes suppressed.

I will be opening an SR as well.  Please continue to post any updates to this issue on this string.  Thanks for your comments and feedback.

Here is what I have from my contact with Oracle Product development on this

      1. The contextual area removal is to improve performance and make it consistent with AR. Please note that the validation status is indeed shown upfront on the UI. And there should be no need to see any other status here?
      2. Regarding the invoice lines, it will appear as expanded for invoices which are not validated and in edit mode. That it is appearing collapsed is a bug and will be fixed in a weekly patch and it will be part of 18C

      Regards

      Gopi

ok, good to know about the point 2 that this will be corrected soon.

Regarding personalization (as a workaround till corrected) we are facing some issue with that personalization for showing this region (personalization dont stay).. but i guess this is not anymore so critical as the root issue will be fixed soon..

Gopi, Is it possible to get this confirmation officially on SR?

      With respect
      Alexey

        Hi Alexey,

Yes, I tried the same using Page Composer and had the same result: The personalization reverts whenever you open a new invoice. Very annoying!

I have raised an SR for confirmation of the bug & fix, but also if there is anything we can do in the meantime with PC as a workaround.

        Kind Regards,

        Jon

      Gopi,

Just to confirm - the only time the lines will not be collapsed is if the invoice is NOT VALIDATED and in EDIT mode.  So as soon as the invoice is validated, the lines will always show as collapsed when in EDIT mode?

The reason I ask is because the only way to see the invoice line details such as the  POET and Asset details is to open the invoice in EDIT mode.

      Thanks,

      Judy

That's correct Judy.  But it's always hidden right now and once we have the fix as part of the weekly update, we should test further and make sure it's working as it's documented.

I think it would more meaningful to show always lines...even the invoice is validated. Most probable that every person will still click lines section open to see lines, otherwise it is not very much sense to open the invoice.... you could just see the header on the invoice listing...

=> I think this in overall will just produce more system load then it was intended...

      Hi Gopi,

We have the same issue, and our Payables team will get their first look at 18C tomorrow in Prod - I am not looking forward to the complaints tomorrow morning about the Invoice Lines section minimising!

I have also raised an SR for confirmation of the bug and ETA on a fix.

      Kind Regards,

      Jon

I've just received an update to the SR I raised regarding this issue. Interestingly on my SR it is not considered a bug:

Product team confirmed that this is standard functionality that is introduced in 18C in order to reduce the performance issue by the development team.

It seems that an Enhancement request that addresses these issues was already logged, but the ETA is not available for the moment.

ENH 28933815 - CANNOT VIEW INVOICE LINES AUTOMATICALLY EXPANDED AFTER 18C UPGRADE

Unfortunately this change means that our Payables team are the ones who are going to take the performance hit...

      Kind Regards,

      Jon

        agree with you Jon.

        just repeating my comment:

I think it would more meaningful to show always lines...even the invoice is validated. Most probable that every person will still click open lines section to see lines, otherwise it is not very much sense to open the invoice.... you could just see the header on the invoice listing...

=> I think this in overall will just produce more system load then it was intended...

=> also the change to hide the invoice related statuses: accounting, approval, payment, behind one click... affects users efficiency in not a most favorable way... as most probably he/she will open that status link at least once to see the invoice overall status...or even twice after reviewing all the lines :)

Ya, agreed. This update doesn't seem very thought out. We have numerous clients complaining about it. For the explanation about consistency with AR invoices - not sure how that makes it consistent at all to AR. Memo Lines are not collapsed by default or collapsible.

If lines are required to enter an invoice and when you create an invoice from scratch, they are hidden by default...why would hiding them make entry or performance faster? Having to collapse and expand causes UI speed to be slower and leads to browser-cache related issues that are already rampant throughout lots of pages.

Can someone from Oracle please comment if this was in fact intended functionality or if it's a UI bug? Seems like there's mixed info out there. And if it is intended functionality, when a fix might go in. It seems like they could run in a simple fix via a profile option (even if it's only at the site level) where the customer can control if it's defaulted expanded or collapsed for create mode and edit mode. There are lots of profile options to control UI stuff on the AP Inv Scanning side, so seems like this wouldn't have to be any different.
