Migrating Oracle Database & Non Oracle Database to Oracle Cloud
    Database Cloud service Migration

You can directly move / migrate various source databases into different target cloud deployments running the Oracle Cloud.

Oracle automated tools for migration will move on premise database to the Oracle cloud and ensure tools compatibility & complimentary as approved by the maximum availability architecture and in some cases Oracle will ensure zero down time based migration .

Let’s Draw 2 scenarios for moving different databases to Oracle Cloud .

Scenario # 1 .You can choose a wide range of source database 11g /12c/18c and AWS. I would pick 11g as starting point then I have to choose from a target database cloud service list (Bare metal – Virtual machine – Exadata cloud service – Autonomous Data Warehouse).

Now I have both target and source databases are set.

Is there a proven migration solution offered by Oracle to proof / support my migration plan let’s see

Oracle offers multiple oracle database cloud migration solutions depends on Oracle maximum availability architecture, SQL developer and other methods

Now I have to choose one of the following solutions as per my business requirements, let’s explore all available solutions

Oracle Zero down time migration –ZDM leverages MAA technologies for example Oracle active Data Guard and oracle golden gate to minimize or eliminate downtime.

OCI Data transfer Appliance – up to 150 TB can be used for back up large database files using local recovery manager to be transferred to Oracle Cloud.

Oracle recovery Manager – RMAN offers multiple methods for migration to Oracle database cloud service (Transportable " table space / backup set / Data Pump "/ Convert transportable tablespace / duplicate from active data guard) beside the main functionality of taking care of all backup and recovery operations.

Now let’s walk through scenario #2  , I will pick AWS and I will move my data to Oracle database cloud services (autonomous data warehouse cloud service)

I would choose oracle SQL developer as free integrated development environment to migrate my data from the source database picked earlier and I will start developing an end  PLSQL Apps ,combined with worksheet , scripts and it can connect directly to Cloud object storage to upload different data sets later on to the autonomous database Cloud .
