Fusion project cost import process ignores values passed via DFFs

    Hi All

We bring monthly consumption costs via a HUB which creates a projects cost file and creates records in the project cost transaction interface. We then run the project cost import process to create project expenditure items. Various data sets are derived using complex business rules to manufacture project cost data import file in the HUB.  Currently we are in the process of simplifying some part of this process by effectively by passing values directly via DFF's.

I have noticed, Fusion project cost import process doesn't validate DFF values [in the value set] when they are passed via the cost interface table and the importing ignores it all. However validations for these DFF values [in the value set] are respected when creating an expenditure item directly in Fusion.

Have you also come across this issue? How did you overcome these value set validation issues?

Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

      Hi Raj,

Have you looked into using the Project Standard Cost Collection Flexfield?

It is very much like a DFF. However, it is the primary mechanism by which Oracle Projects collects data from integrating applications including fields such as Project/Task/Expenditure Type etc. Therefore, you can pretty much be sure to get the data from there to interface to the PJC_EXP_ITEMS_ALL similar to the PA_EXPENDITURE_ITEMS_ALL table in EBS. You have to configure it for the context you want (ie: ap invoice line or distribution and then replicate the same in the context PJC All so that you can receive the data in Projects and view them in Manage Costs page as well.

I have recently tested/validated it to be working.

      Hope this helps.

Hello Paul - Thanks for your response. I'm able to pass the data via Project Standard Cost Collection Flexfield DFF's. The trouble is these data are not validated as defined in the corresponding value set which is a bit worrying. Essentially I could pass a any value which doesn't exist in the Value set and yet the import cost program imports them sucessfully.

          Hi Raj,

Can you please let me know what is the Value set validation type you are used...

If you are using, validation type apart from the Format only & Independent... the system will do the validation of the data which you provided in the DFF.

          Hope this will help you.

          Thanks & Regards,
