    Title:
Invoke OIC integration from ERP Financials
    Summary:
Invoking OIC integration from ERP SaaS ESS or BIP
    Content:

    Hi All,

Is there a way to invoke an OIC integration from SaaS ESS job. We have few integration that needs to be run on ad-hoc basis by business users.

What other alternatives we have to allow ERP SaaS application business users to trigger an integration?

    Thanks

You can have a look at - https://cloudcustomerconnect.oracle.com/posts/0b6af4cdfd

We had tried earlier - http://www.ateam-oracle.com/calling-an-icsoic-service-from-bi-publisher  but seems that it is no longer supported

Dvi - What kind of integrations business users would need to trigger on ad-hoc basis, if you could throw light on? Moreover we can go with options like,

      • OTBI Reports with file extract
      • VBCS is one of the options

However all this is based on requirement.

There can be various scenarios when business user would want an integration to be executed.

        For example: Bank statements import

Generally users download these files from bank and place it in file system and later want to execute the import, considering this interface needs transformation of data. I know we can schedule this integration to be run periodically but you would agree when downloading the BAI files are manually from bank, it should ideally be run on Ad-hoc(When needed) instead to schedule.

On a contrary, Can OIC trigger itself whenever a file is available lie some polling mechanism. I double it have this functionality. May be you would want to comment.

        Thanks

Yes, OIC can trigger itself whenever is file available. Polling option is available in OIC file adapter.

I agree with users requirement for ad-hoc trigger. You can create file based integration in which you will have to use ftp adapter where,

          1. first you will list the files for given file name pattern and directory.
          2. use the output of first to read the required files in a loop manner if multiple files are expected.

Ideally minimum time for scheduler is every 10 mins and in this case this should be sufficient.

Some more options available if users are expected to be bit technical and ready.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more details.

Agreed that we can use scheduled integration. But I still wish on triggering the integration from ERP application.

Wondering if anyone has done that that which is still applicable for current release.

            Thanks

I can understand that your users do not want to login separately into OIC to run the interface ad-hoc. Not an efficient way but we can have a BI Pub call this web-service. BI Pub would be available to the user on the same ERP cloud login. We had a similar requirement from Oracle EBS wherein we had given them a concurrent program on the same EBS module that invokes the interface in SOA cloud.

My bad, pls ignore my comment.  I just read Kanchan's comment that this BI option is not supported for OIC. It is helping us since its EBS.
