    Title:
    Masking Supplier Tax Payer ID
    Summary:
We would want to mask the Supplier Taxpayer ID across Organization types
    Content:

    Hi,

The business would want to have their suppliers tax payer id masked, but it is only possible to mask if the Organization type is "Individual". Please refer the below metalink. Masking Supplier Tax Identifiers PII Data (Doc ID 2330050.1)

My question is if the supplier renders a different kind of service irrespective of the tax organization type, then is it possible to mask the Taxpayer ID across suppliers? Please let me know if you have any workaround for the same.

    Thanks,

    Jay.

The masking on Taxpayer ID for supplier with tax organization type of Individual or Foreign Individual is to protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Can you please elaborate on your use cases where the information would become sensitive that needs masking protection?

      Thanks,

      Hong

        Hong,

We have a similar requirement to mask the TaxpayerID for suppliers registering through the Prospective or Spend Authorized Supplier Registration Link. Even if the supplier type is individual, the approval notifications carry the entire taxpayer ID in the notifications, revealing the confidential SSN's for the suppliers that are individuals.

Is there a provision to mask this information in the approval notifications and attachments that go with it?

      Hi Hong,

Why are we not able to mask the Taxpayer ID if the Tax Organization Type other than "Individual/Foreign Individual"  to protect the Personally Identifiable Information (PII)?

      Please help on this.

      Thanks,

      Jay.

      Hi Jay,

The Tax Information for organizations which are not defined as Individual/Foreign Individual can be found easily, for example on web you can find the tax information of such companies.

It is the individuals whose tax information must be protected from misuse and therefore we have PII security for such suppliers. Hope this helps.

      Thanks,

      Piyush
