    Hello Oracle Cloud User,

    I. Release Readiness material is now available for Oracle Fusion Applications R13 (update 17D) – Sales & Service, Human Capital Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management, and Common Technologies. Specifically, you will find:

    • New Feature Summaries:  This content includes a summary level description of each new feature and product (formerly known as RCDs)
    • What's New:  Learn about what's new in the upcoming release by reviewing expanded discussions of each new feature and product, including capability overviews, business benefits, setup considerations, usage tips, and more
    • Release Training:  Created by product management, these self-paced, interactive training sessions are deep dives into key new enhancements and products
    • Product Documentation:  Oracle's online documentation includes detailed product guides and training tutorials to ensure your successful implementation and use of the Oracle Fusion Applications

II. A Reminder on Release Cadence and Terminology

Going forward, Oracle Fusion Applications will have four quarterly releases per calendar year – February, May, August, and November. In addition, to be more consistent with established cloud terminology, we are adjusting our versioning. Because Release 13 will have quarterly functional revisions, we will begin versioning Oracle Cloud Applications as follows:

Example: Oracle Sales Cloud R13 (update 17B), Oracle Sales Cloud R13 (update 17C), Oracle Sales Cloud R13 (update 17D)

The number 17 represents the calendar year. A, B, C, D represents the first, second, third, or fourth quarterly revision in that calendar year. One time note: There is no R13 update 17A as the initial R13 introduction fell into the 2nd calendar or B quarter. In addition, the monthly Patch Bundle will be renamed to Maintenance Pack.

      Thanks, Katrine,

I have a couple of questions.

Does it replace the term Quarterly Patches with Quarterly Release?
What will be there in monthly patches then?
We are on quarterly maintenance. Do we have to go back to monthly patches?
Will it be applied first Friday of the quarterly in stage and 3rd Friday in production?
Do we get to choose if we want to take the release or not?
Do we have to schedule every release or it will be applied automatically?

      Thanks,

      Abul

As we transition to Quarterly Updates, we will no longer refer to these as patches nor releases.
Monthly maintenance packs will be available if a customers to opt-in to. These will only contain fixes - no new features.
Any updates to the environments is as before: 1st weekend for non-prod and 3rd weekend for production environments.
A customer cannot opt out  of a quarterly update and you will also not have to schedule these going forward. You will be notified soon as to which four calendar months of the year that you will be receiving these updates.

      Hope this helps! Katrine

      Katrine,

      Couple of questions

      1. All through 2018 we will continue to be release 13 (17B - 17D  Update)

      2. Will there be a release 14 at point of time during 2018 or would be timed to be available only 2019, which effectively means that Oracle will deliver one major version release every year while you continue to get the quarterly updates through 17B-17D updates ?

      Regards

      Yadhu

      Very useful reference.....

    • Katrine Haugerud

As soon as all Fusion customers  (currently on either Fusion R11or Fusion R12) are upgraded to R13, we will drop the reference to R13, and simply go to Yearly+Quarterly update cadence.
For example: Oracle Sales Cloud 19A (this references calendar year 2019 and the first quarter in 2019).

For customers that are not a part of Fusion, like Oracle CPQ Cloud, the update cadence is already shifting to the Yearly+Quarterly cadence.
For example: Oracle CPQ Cloud 18A  (this references calendar year 2018 and the first quarter in 2018).

      Hello Katrine,

We were notified of the following, but we have not received any invitation yet to schedule our upgrade.  Did we miss it or has it not been sent yet?

      • The target date to complete the upgrade scale out and begin the bulk upgrade to R13 is February 2018. You should receive an invitation to schedule your upgrade in December.

      Thanks,

      Kim

       Hi Katrine,

We still have not received any Oracle notification or email to schedule our R13 upgrade.  This was supposed to be out in December and we are at mid January still without any information or opportunity to schedule.  Has Oracle delayed the timeline?  It would be helpful to know so that we can better prepare our users regarding the timing of the R13 upgrades.  Please share any info you may have on this.

      Thanks,

      Kim

    • Abul Khair

      Hi Katrine,

We are also waiting for the schedule. It will help us to prepare better.

Do you know a firm date?

      Regards,

      Abul

      Hi Katrine,

We are a Fusion Financials R12 customer.

Can you tell us when we will be notified by Oracle to schedule our Financials R13 upgrade?  We too received an announcement informing us we would be notified by Oracle in December 2017 with R13 schedule information.   It is now mid January 2018 and we have not yet received R13 scheduling information.

I want to be ensure we do not miss our window of opportunity to pick & schedule our desired dates for the R13 upgrade.

      Thanks,

      Karen
