    Title:
Rules written in excel are not being triggered
    Content:

    Hi All,

We have an OPA in which we have written rules in a table for one of the excel sheets. When we try to debug, in the "Interview" tab, the rules are not triggered. But when we try to set the values in "Data" tab of debugger and check, the attribute changes its value as per the rules. Please help me out in identifying the issue if any of you have faced this issue earlier or any idea on this.

    Regards

The interview is driven by the goals that are set - it doesn't trigger any rules that do not contribute to proving those goals.

      Hi Brad,

      Thanks for the response!

I just checked and in our interview we have only one attribute identified as Goal. Even after giving some value in that, the actual attribute is not being populated.

Are the controls populated with values from rules once the user clicks on submit?

It's a bit more complex than that.  The data you provide on the screen isn't put into the session until you submit or move to the next screen, which is when the relevant rules will be evaluated.  The interview shouldn't explicitly set the goals - the goals are values you are trying to infer through the rules, but not every inferred values is a goal.

      Hi Brad,

So is there any ideal way using which we can set the value on the same page during runtime? Our requirement is to send the selected category id to smart assistant widget through java-script extension. Its strange that it was working fine earlier, we used to retrieve the id selected but recently we are facing this issue.
