    Title:
    Allocation Exclusions
    Summary:
Are Exclusions considered in the Basis?
    Content:

We have a parent department 1500, which has 20 children. We only want to allocate to 15 of them.

So, in the Allocation Range, we use parent 1500.

In the Exclude step, we enter the 5 that we don't want.

In the Basis, we cannot pick the department segment, since it defaults in from the Allocation Range.

However, it appears that the Basis is using the parent department 1500 and is NOT considering the 5 exclusions.

Is this a bug or intended functionality? In other words, does the Allocation engine only consider Exclusions against the Allocation Range and not while analyzing the basis?

Exclusions are only against the range for target meaning you do not want to allocated to them the generated results.

    Thanks,

        Okay. Thanks for confirming.

Unfortunately the way it's built it a little misleading, since as I said above, whatever allocation range you enter for the target is also used for the basis... but the exclusion don't cascade down to the basis as well.

      Yes, it is intended functionality.

Yes, this is an issue with this feature. How we overcame this issue is by not providing any exclusions as well as not putting the STAT account journal line for those particular departments which needs to be excluded. This solved our issue.
