    Title:
    Modify DFF Display Type
    Summary:
Is is possible to change the Display Type of a Descriptive Flexfield from a List of Values to a Text Box?
    Content:

We have an existing Purchase Order Distributions DFF that was configured with a Display Property of  List of Values with a Validation Value Set.  Due to a change in business process, the business owners would like to change this DFF to be a Text Box without a List of Values associated with it.  Is it possible to modify the DFF Segment Value Set and Display Properties to be a Text Box?

Current Configuration screen shots are included for reference.

    Two more thoughts...

Have you tried deleting the DFF, deploying that, then recreating the DFF with the display type desired?

Does it need to be attribute2?  If not, have you tried creating a new DFF with the display type desired and you can disable this old one?

      Hi Judy,

You need to change your value set to a free text field value set option.  There are some seeded ones you can choose from.  Usually they have "CHAR" in the name.  Then you can update the display type to text box.  I would also recommend setting your display size.

Thanks, Autumn.  I tried this and am still showing the list of values on the Requisition for the DFF.  Is there something else I might be missing?

          Hi Judy,

Have you deployed the flexfield?  It should have a green checkbox if it's been deployed.

Yes, I deployed it after making the change.  I logged out of the instance and closed the browser before testing the field on a new requisition.

I haven't tried deleting.  I wasn't sure if that would even be possible since we have already used it.

We are hoping to keep it as attribute 2 because we have some downstream processes linked to that field.  If we can't modify this DFF, we will probably need to look into that option.

                Thanks for your help, Autumn.

              Hey Judy,

I noticed in your comments you are referring to requisition distributions but the screenshots here are for Purchase Order distributions.  To configure requisition distributions you need to update the Requisition Distribution flexfields:

              Name: Requisition Distributions

              Code: POR_REQ_DISTRIBUTIONS

Thank you Antonio - you definitely have some great eyes.  That was exactly my issue - I was editing the wrong distribution flexfield.  Thank you for pointing out my error.

I have successfully modified the DFF type in our test environment.

      Hi Judy,

      I agree with Autumn.

I changed display types from dropdown to radio button etc.

      Good Luck
