    Title:
No Time Slot and Non-Ordered activities
    Content:

We have a unique implementation in that we need the mobile resources to have the flexibility to work on activities in random order so that if they have 6 activities for the day they need ability to work on the 4th one at the beginning of the day and so on.  Also, the repairs/work that they are doing is mostly at a centralized location and not actually driving from one activity to another.  So our upstream system is creating all activities as non-ordered but we noticed that when dispatchers are moving activities they currently can drag/drop more activities to a mobile resource than their 8 hr shift without any overtime warning.  I was expecting the system to warn of overtime if moving 12 hrs worth of activities to a resource's 8 hr shift.  Is this possible with us not using time slots and having activities as not ordered for overtime warning to popup?

    Help is appreciated.

      Hi Todd,

Sorry, but the answer is no.

I propose to make activities as ordered, and give the right for the technicians to reorder they route, because then all activity will consume time from they work shift. Not as the Non-Ordered working now, while those aren't included in the time line resulting a lost time tracking from this aspect. If you plan to use not scheduled that is a very different case.
So even the activities aren't have time slots, they have durations and travel times, so Routing can make a logical route for all technician considering travels. If a technician is not agree on that order, then he/she can change the order without calling the dispatchers. And if the dispatcher trying to assign a new one to them, they will get a overtime warning.

Thanks Zsolt for the input, so if I make the activities ordered and give the resources that ability to reorder then I would not need to have time slots and can use the Duration field to determine time for their day to not exceed their shift hours.  I realize routing would determine that their route but when they move or drag/drop activities on resources would it also throw a warning for overtime because of exceeding shift hours just as when routing happens.

I think the "Non-ordered" is mostly means "It would be nice if you will do that jobs also". But if you think differently then an SR or an IdeaLab entry can be made.
I think my proposal (Ordered with movement possibility) can result a much clearer situation and no one deny for technicians to do activities in that order (if it's fit for them).

Thanks again Zsolt.  Being this is a rather unique implementation and have never had to use the "Allow activity reorder inside the route" setting on the User Setup for mobile techs but will test it out to see if it meets our needs.  Another question/clarification...is there an Action I would need to add to the Edit/View activity view for Mobility screen so that they can re-order the list of activities for their day in that screen?

      Thanks

IMO, you need to enable Configuration/User Types/General/ "Allow activity move between resources" and "Allow activity reorder inside the route" and "Allow next activity selection on Complete in Mobility" then you need to test the result. I did some quick tests about this, and maybe choosing the first daily activity can be tricky. The next one are selectable when they close the current one.
