    Attachments in opa
    Content:

    Hi all,

I have a requirement where I need to attach a document in opa using an attachment control. When I submit the interview, the attachment should be saved in the system. Then, the manager is supposed to review the attachment and specify if something is wrong.

My question is how could this be achieved? Once the interview is saved into the system. How can one go back to that case number and review his submitted interview?

The current release of OPA only allows a user to upload an attachment which will persist in the session, and a single checkpoint related to that session, if the interview is configured to save checkpoints, but they are not able to download attachments from the interview through their browser. A custom implementation of the interview using web services could achieve this but is a considerable amount of work.

As for reviewing a submitted interview, I would suggest avoiding use of a hacky checkpoint resuming option between the users. Instead, I would save relevant attribute values to a RTF or PDF using a Form Template, and attach both this Form and the Upload Attachment to a custom object. The manager can then review both files and proceed to push the attachment to the restricted/manager-only accessible target object.

If Submitting by the non-manager user changes fields on a target object but you want to delay this until approval (including review of the attachment), the only way to do that would be to save the values to a custom object, then have a second manager-only interview which seeds in values from the custom object, and submits the values out to the intended target object.
