    I have a strong opinion about Whatsapp that I want to share with you guys.
    It's something really important to think about before implementing something like this.

    We have a couple of customers who wanted to integrate Whatsapp into OSC. There's no default way to do this. It's somewhat possible through an integration partner or you have to create something yourself (through one of the OSC API's).

    But keep the following in mind when doing this: Whatsapp is a part of the Facebook company and they do not support integrations/support. Everything you'll make or an integration partner makes is basically duct taped together. So no one can give you guarantees on the product and thus on your support level.

    There are some indications that Facebook is working on an API at the Whatsapp side. Until that beautiful day comes, you are on your own with this

      This seems like an excellent integration feature. Our business would definitely benefit from it too.

      If anyone with experience or more knowledge on this could advise or help us get started, please do.

      Thanks

      Janeth,

      First of all, before you go ahead with this sort of integration I would encourage you (if you already not) to review what was mentioned by Luuk in the previous post. Make sure you and your customer have an agreement for the risks and benefits for this sort of integration, since Whatsapp doesn’t provide an API, your support is limited to community who has developed some accelerators and the risk associated to Whatsapp’s changes is considerable at this point.

      Here goes some insight information I have used for my owner education when I was trying to create this integration.

      Since Whatsapp hasn’t provided any API, there are some accelerators you can find.

      PHP -> https://github.com/mgp25/Chat-API

      Python -> https://github.com/tgalal/yowsupA

      Here is an example how another partner has implemented.

      Partner who has developed -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVkFZySHu0Q&t=9s

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Janeth,

      I am the former lead developer of the partner who has build the integration seen on the video.In the past  I did some research for this and there is A LOT of risk involved when you want to achieve this, I was not a big supporter for this back then.

      Please do note that the API's that Edson Junior pointed out for you won't work (properly) any anymore and you WILL BE blocked by WhatsApp within 2 days or so. Also what Luuk posted and I quote "basiccaly duct tape together" is correct as well.

      There are some ways other ways to achieve this but I am not a supporter for these kind of solutions. The only legal solution will be is that Whatsapp provides an official API.

      If you want to play around with integrating apps, you can start of with Line or Telegram.

      Good luck!

      Best,

      Huda

    • Wabox App

      Hi Janeth,

      maybe waboxapp (https://www.waboxapp.com) is what you are looking for. It's a WhatsApp API as a service, using your own phone number.

      If you use it right (no spam, no fool) your number does not have to be blocked using this service.
