    Title:
    RN Chat using PTA
    Content:

We're currently testing RN Chat to release to our customer base through our End-User pages, and one thing I'm having problems figuring out is how to stop the tab from asking for the First Name Last Name and Email Address.  Even though all of the information is prepopulated, the customer will have the ability to edit that, and we don't want that.

    Any thoughts?

Good Question.  I was just looking for that information on these discussion boards as I have not been able to find a solution.  I will let you know if I find anything.

      Sandra,

I don't know how willing you are to modify PHP files for your interface, but my 'workaround' has been to open up the chat.php file and modify the form's values to either make those fields read only:

      Example(s):

      Before:

      <tr> <td class="label" align="right" nowrap><label for="c_fname"><? if ($login_reqd) print '<font color="red">*</font> '; msg_print($rnw_mbid, FIRST_NAME_LBL) ?></label>:&nbsp;</td> <td><input id="c_fname" name="c_fname" type="text" size="20" maxlength="40" /></td> </tr>

      After:

      <tr> <td class="label" align="right" nowrap><label for="c_fname"><? if ($login_reqd) print '<font color="red">*</font> '; msg_print($rnw_mbid, FIRST_NAME_LBL) ?></label>:&nbsp;</td> <td><input id="c_fname" name="c_fname" type="text" readonly="readonly" size="20" maxlength="40" /></td> </tr>

You may also be able to set all three field's type equal to "hidden" also, to hide them completely - I haven't tried that yet but was going to attempt it today.

Then all of the values would be available but the end user would simply see the button to initiate the chat session.

      Thanks,

      Chris Martin

As of RightNow 8.5 (May '08) the email address, first name, and last name fields are written to the page as text only (as opposed to input boxes) if the user is already logged in.

Releases prior to that require a customization such as yours Chris.

      Thanks!

      Hi emc2,

So, does it mean we can't pre-populate fields in chat_launch page if the user is already logged into external pages?

      Thanks,

      Priya
