    Error while customizing BI Publisher Report
    Summary:
    We are trying to customize the Account Analysis Report (ESS Job Name - Account Analysis Report) but getting error while trying to modify the data model

    Hi Friends,

    We are trying to customize the Account Analysis Report (ESS Job Name - Account Analysis Report) but getting error while trying to modify the data model.

    Further analysis, we found some notes which confirming that there is a bug in the system and there is no concrete information on it.

    So could you please help if you guys experiencing such kind of issue?

    Customization Process:- Fusion Applications BI Publisher : How Should We Create New BI Publisher Reports or Customize Existing Seeded BI Publisher Reports? (Doc ID 1926322.1)

    Error Message:- When we try to open Data Model and getting error "TypeError: Cannot read property 'getDataType' of null"

      I was able to modify this data model - just keep clicking OK until there are no more error messages (I had to click maybe 10+ times). You will have to do this every time you edit the data model.

      Thanks for the reply...

      This option I already tried (I had clicked 15 times) and error alert dialog box disappear but not able to save that report after modification then reported to Oracle Support then the routed back to bug which mentioned above.

      Wondering if any one modified and succeeded ? Please share those info?

        Hi Sudha,

        I did modify the data model to add some additional columns and am able to save and run the query just fine. What kind of issues are you getting after the error message screen shot you attached?

        I did have to enter relevant values for the lexical references when I modified the data set. I attached a screenshot of the values I specified.

      Hope you are doing great.

      Can you please confirm, the customized Account Analysis Report working as expected? 

      We customized the report but keep failing... no proper log message..

        Sudha - yes the customized report still works for us. What error message are you receiving? Are you trying to run via BI Catalog or via Schedule Process?

        The way I have set it up for us is that I have copied the seeded data model as a new custom data model and created a new report layout - specifically the interactive layout. Our users run the custom report via BI Catalog

          Ohhhh... Good to know...

          We just customized the data model and linked to original report ESS job so that it should run through scheduling...  But its keep failing..

            Not sure if you can increase the logging to get more details.

            But the extent of your customizations to the data model may conflict with how the ESS job calls the report - but I have not looked into the details of the behavior of this ESS. Our users prefer to run via BI Catalog to use the interactive format for easy filtering and sorting via UI without needing to export to excel for quick analyses, which is why I did not even attempt to have it run via the original ESS job

              We can do and we have done other jobs which kind of same scenario’s and they are working.

              Logged SR with Oracle support and working with them... and will update you if i get any update.
