Reassign Requisition by Requestor - Updating only Preparer...Answered

    Title:
Reassign Requisition by Requestor - Updating only Preparer and not the Requestor
    Content:

Reassign Requisition by Requester - Updating only Preparer and not the Requester in the Requisition line.

When a Req is reassigned by Requester using the Actions --> Reassign Requester it is updating the preparer in the Req and not the requester.

Is there anything we will need to do to have both the preparer and requester to be updated?

    Hi,

Yes, that is the design. Reassign Requisition only changes the "Entered By" value. It's function is to reassign ownership (person who created the requisition). The new owner can then make changes to the requisition such as updating the requester, updating the deliver to location, etc. We do not currently have any plans to change the design.

There is a seperate functionality called "Update Preparer and Requester" which will update all occurrences of a person on a requisition i.e. all instances where this person is the requisition creator or the person (requester) that the item was ordered for. However this will apply to ALL (i.e. you can't specify just 1 requisition) requisitions that are still "active" . This is intended for situations where a user will be unavailable for a considerable length of time or has left the company. You can file an ER to add more filters to this feature, for example add a filter to specify requisitions created within a certain period or to be able to pick specific requisitions just for update.

      Ramesh

In your example, David is the requester (and the Preparer) on the requisition, correct? Are you saying the Requester value does not get updated in that requisition after you run the process?  I think the process updates the Preparer on the requisition and updates requesters where the Preparer is a different user. In your case both being the same, it updates the Entered By only.

I just wanted to confirm what you were assuming would happen. I think you expected the Requester after the reassignment to also say CR Ramesh.

        Hi Ashok,

        Thanks for getting back.

Yes I was expecting both  entered by and the Requestor as CR Ramesh once David reassigns to CR Ramesh. Is there anything we can do to update both the feilds with the new requestor assigned? Business would like see both entered by and requestor feilds updated.

Ok. That's what I thought you were referring to also. Yes, the feature should update both Entered By and Requester Fields (if they are the same requester who is being assigned). Can you confirm if this is an isolated occurrence or is this reproducible consistently across requisitions?

      Hi Ramesh,

Reassign option on Manage Requisitions Page:

selecting a requisition and reassigning it to someone else, new assignee becomes the new Entered By person and can view and modify the requisition as if they were the original Preparer.

Please find the detail information from Oracle:

      Update Preparer and Requester?

How can I reassign a requisition?

        Hi Ifeanyi,

Thanks for the update and detailed explanation on the functionality. This really helps. I will go ahead and log an ER in the idea lab.
