    Title:
Allocation journal not posting following GL allocations process
    Summary:
Allocation journal not posting following GL allocations process
    Content:

    Hello,

The Generate GL allocation process is successfully ran when the right accounting period is chosen for the created rule. There are two jobs successfully completed: Allocate GL balance & Generate Allocation. There is no job line for Post allocation journal and I believe there should be. When I then go into manage journals and select the same accounting period and the source as allocations, there are no results.

Please let me know your insights on this,

    Regards,
    Isaline

Please review the log file for the Allocation Job. Before posting Journal Import process will run. I appears that there are no journal lines created after the generation. Log file would contain the exact message.

      Thanks,

      Abhijit

        Hello Abhijit,

Indeed the error says no journal lines were created so the allocation stopped processing.

I attempted putting actuals for allocations instead of totals for allocations in the rule s scenario, and to use a hierarchy instead of all (segment) values in my allocation range, and other member selections, but it still gives me the same error.

        Thank you,

        Isaline

This must be because either your source or basis may not have balances or you are giving wrong address. Total for allocations or actuals does not make any difference. You can use smart view to query the balances for the same source and basis you are providing and with same values to ensure you have balances. Instead I will suggest to work with Oracle Support.

          Thanks, Abhijit

I already tackled the basis or source journal error that said they do not contain balances, and picked other accounts instead that do.

I am indeed also working on this with Oracle support.

Thank you, let me know if you have any more insights.

I have worked extensively for last 4 months on allocations and faced lots of issues. Thankfully they are resolved, although I still need to move most of allocations to Production. Actually these two programs generally run successfully but you should look out for 3rd program i.e. 'Import Journals' program which brings the allocation journals. Once you see that running, then only you should go and check the 'Manage Journals' screen. For your issue as of now, you need to look out for the error message in log file.

      Thanks,

      Vikash

Yes I am working on resolving those errors first and will expect this import journals child process to run thereafter.

Right now, it says no journal lines were created so the allocation stopped processing

        Thank you,

      Hello all,

I worked through the errors and allocation posting, and wanted to provide my documented steps for allocation rule testing here attached.
