    Title:
Opportunity status and sales stage relation
    Content:

    Hi Community Members,

I have observed one behavior while working on opportunity. Even though I have defined status as closed in one of the sales stage in Manage sales stage and sales methods, I can see all the values in sales stage when I check into the opportunity detail pages.

Example : I have configured status = Won for Sales Stage = Closed. But I could see Closed sales stage even when status = open

I would like know the significance of setting status while defining sales stage as it does not seems to be working.

Also what are best available options to control this behaviour?

    Regards,

    Rohit

    Hello,

there are two status in opties:

1st: the one you see in detail layout. That status is editable and is not linked with the Sales Stage

2nd: the one you associate with the sales stage when you define the sales stage. That status is the one use in the pre-defaulted searches of the opportunities (My Open Opportunities....)

If you want to link the 1st Status  with the Sales Stage, you will need to do it via groovy. But that will depend on the business scenario. If you dont really need your users to update the status, and base it only in the status based in the sales stage (2nd), you don't really need the 1st and therefore you can hide it from the UI.

    Hope it clarifies.
