    Title:
How to Search / Export a Log
    Content:

    Hi,

I am wondering whether anyone found a way to search the Log (from the Configuration - Site Configuration - Logs)?

For example the Incident Rules Log can be quite long and it would be practical to have the ability to quickly search this for specific words, so that we can check whether the incident went through a specific rule instead of having to manually scroll through the whole log.

One way would be if it was possible to export the log results, but I do not se a way to do this.

    Thanks

    Pavol

Check out the Rule Log History report in \Public Reports\Service\Other Reports\Rule Reports. You can customize a copy of that report to get what you need. Please note that rule log history is only kept for 30 days by default. If you need more, you'll need to modify PURGE_RULE_LOG_FREQ in Site Configuration -> Configuration Settings (and be mindful of the warnings in the description for that setting).

      Good Morning Pavol,

I don't believe there is a way to perform a search or export the log results within the rule transaction log.

Can you share more of what you are trying to accomplish and the need to run this search?

      Thanks,

      Tasha

Thanks a lot Carey, that is exactly what I need. I am not too worried about the 30 days threshold, as usually we need to review an incident that is relatively new.

Tasha - an example when I use this is when checking why a specific action that we have defined in the rules did not happen (aka the rule did not fire). For example I have an incident that I want to check whether the Survey rule (or any other rule) fired. Instead of manually scrolling through the whole rule log (which can be quite extensive) I can export the report Carey mentioned and search with Ctrl-F in Excel.

      Pavol,

If you frequently need to see how a specific incident went thru the rules, you can add that report to your incident workspace.

      Already done that ;)

Awesome, thanks for sharing that Carey!  Glad you got what you needed Pavol.
