    Title:
BAI2: Derive opening balance using parse rule set
    Summary:
BAI2: Bank doesn't supply opening balance
    Content:

In trying to import daily BAI2 files from the bank, the file is missing opening balances (code 010). The bank doesn't have a way to include that in the file.

Is there a way to use parse rule sets to derive the opening balance?

Parse rules are used to move data from one field to another , but if the data is not populated in the I don't think you can the functionality. Usually banks do populated Opening Balance information I don't see a reason why they cannot.

What data would you parse to derive an opening balance?

All an opening balance is is the closing balance from the previous day, it would be very strange if a bank could not provide 010 opening balance. To Swathi's point, this isn't really the intended use for the parser.

We've asked the bank to update their BAI export to include a 010 field. It's really odd that they dont do that already.

      Thanks for the answers everyone.
