    Title:
    Work Definitions in Different UOM
    Summary:
Do work definitions always have to be in the primary UOM?
    Content:

I don't seem to have the ability to define a production UOM when setting up a work definition. In fact, I don't see a UOM at all. It seems to just assume that the work definition is for 1 unit of the primary UOM. Is this just a limitation of the system, or is there a way to use a different UOM for the work definition?

A work definition defines the operation, material, and resource requirements to produce 1 unit of the product in its primary UOM, similar to an item structure. The product quantity of 1 and primary UOM are implied and not shown in the UI as per the design.  In addition, the materials assigned to operations either default the UOM from the item structure or can be specified in another UOM that is convertible to its primary UOM (if the item is a standard item, not an Assemble To Order model).

Another enhancement to define the work definition in terms of a batch quantity in another UOM is planned for 2019, as part of a phased strategy to address process manufacturing in the cloud.
