Is the override function available for manual journals?

    Title:
Is the override function available for manual journals?
    Summary:
We are able to use the "override" function for tax journals but not manual, can anyone use it for manual journals?
    Content:

The override function allows us to change entity, account, cost centre - anything in our accounting string - in a simple screen and then Oracle ERP posts a full journal to reflect the minor change. We would like to be able to do this with manual journals too but currently don't appear to have the option. I am wondering if it is our settings preventing us from doing that or if it is because the system does not have that ability. Does anyone else have the ability to use the "override" function on a manual journal?

    Thanks

    Kate

      Hi Kate,
Override accounting only works for subledgers because it creates an adjustment SLA journal. It is not working for GL journals.
      Thanks

Hi Kate, I could be wrong but I thought this was something you could control in Manage Journal Sources.  I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase but you could experiment with changing "Freeze Journal" setting for manual JEs to see allows you to do what you want.  Thanks, Wendy

        Hi Wendy,
I would be very cautious with that : the "Freeze Journals" checkbox is done to avoid problems of synchronization between SLA balances and GL balances. Out-of-the-box, the only frozen sources are the subledgers. Some Oracle standard reports could show misleading data if Kate's team started doing updates in GL without affecting the subledgers, because it's not clear whether these reports are based on SLA or on GL balances.

Hi Julien, I appreciate your insight and I understand why you're urging caution.  Thank you for your thoughtful response.  Wendy

      Hi Wendy and Julien,

Thanks both for your suggestions and cautions, greatly appreciated. I had a look at the "freeze" status next to manual journals, it said "No" in the status, so manual journals don't appear to be frozen so it is looking a little like the function just isn't available.

      Kind regards,

      Kate
