Still unable to download multiple files in one step
    Summary:
How to download multiple files in one step.
    Content:

    Hi,

We are in 2019 and it seems it is still impossible to download multiple files in one step in content. Do we have alternate solutions ? I have to download 100 files and it is just unbelievable that we can't do that in one step.

So is there some external tool that can be used to do that ?

    Thanks

    Marc

      Hi Marc,

Are you trying to download from "Documents" or "Assets"? Have you checked the desktop sync tool for Documents https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/content-cloud/managing-content/desktop-app-overview.html

      Hi,

Thanks for your answer. This is for documents. Are all the documents folders visible in the desktop sync tool ?  I mean I have used the 'choose folder to sync' but here, no way to search for a folder ? I look into the 'Shared with you' but I think this folder is a kind of 'public' folder and no way to see it.  so I think that not all folders are visible and so able to be sync here.

      any input is welcome

      Thanks

You will see all the folder in Desktop sync which are visible to you after login to OCE. If not, then something is wrong. You can try removing and adding account again.

      Hi Vinay,

what I see is that I can see the content of the folder thru the WEB interface but no way to see this content thru the desktop sync tool. here is the link so that you can check if you have access (i think it open to Oracle Employees) but no way to see it in the desktop sync tool.

      thanks

You are trying to access folder via public link, please edit your previous post and remove the link. Desktop sync the folder which is owned by you or shared withy you, you won't be  able to synch content shared with Share link

      Hi Vinay,

Thanks for your answer. So back to the initial question, document cloud should evolve so that we can download all shared files with a public link in one step.

We are now starting a project to add the ability to select multiple files and download them as a zip file. That work will initially start for digital assets but there are plans to expand that out to files, folders, and other areas as well. I can't give you an ETA at this time, but once the project is fully scoped in a few weeks, we will be able to provide a timeline then.

Hi @Marc, any traction gained on priority for these features?

I too have run into the need to download 25+ PDFs from a recent internal conference as a workaround in order to be able to copy/paste content from the document itself (i.e. PDF preview within documents web-app doesn't properly render PDF text to allow for proper copy/paste results ... another problem, for another day, see attached annotated screenshot

This is a slightly different question, but one that is already partially supported today. When we render a PDF file, it is done in one of two ways: as an image rendering using ghostscript or as a rendering using HTML5. When the rendering is an image, copying text isn't possible. When the rendering is done using HTML5, you can select and copy text.

Unfortunately, we are not able to render all PDF files using HTML5 today. Where we can, we do make that conversion. But where we cannot, we continue to use the image rendering. We are working on expanding our support so that we can eventually render all PDF files correctly but that will take a very long time, given the number of exceptions and formats that need to be handled.

          Hope that helps,

Makes total sense Marc, thanks for your response here. Sorry for the topic diversion ... the remainder of my post, which was truncated above, was actually on-topic and I've forwarded along a copy of what I had shared to your email for future consideration.

            All the best,
            Eric
